Didn't Diversity go first in their final.

Kai and Natalia came 11th! Ouch, I reckon they would have been Top 6.

Malaki nearly won his semi-final...were people honestly voting on who was the best performance there because I thought he was terrible...purely cause of his nerves not because he isnt a talented boy but putting him through to the final would have just prolonged the misery he looked petrified to even stand on stage let alone sing.

Sam and Ryan both suffered from being up against each other in the final. Loveable Rogues didnt do as well as some expected either. Too many singing acts probably sharing the vote.

The top three dominated the voting in the final 10% gap between OMA and TLR Ashleigh & Pudsey beat C&J by 14% very impressive

They went second to last. it was Flawless who went first & they came 8th.

Twist and Pulse are the only act to get in the top 3 in a final from the first half of the show & I think they went first. However they were unique & original combining two hugely popular things at the time, street dance & comedy.

No act who has performed last in the final has ever come outside the top 3.

All that matters is the result of the final % and Ashleigh and Pudsey did it when it mattered most.

Flawless was the dance crew that went first in that final.

During Diversity's year, the top 3 acts were also the last 3 acts:
Diversity went 9th -> 1st place
Susan Boyle 8th -> Runner Up
Julian Smith 10th -> 3rd place

In their semi-final they went first so did incredibly well to get 2nd place with as high percentage as they did, behind Susan Boyle.
Then in the final Diversity were 9th to perform and they win over Susan boyle.

I dont care what anybody says order of performances matters....alot and simon and co know it too.

Also Stavros Flatly were almost 3rd place, only 0.1% in it - i was surprised when i saw that but they did really well. Funny in those days we only got told the percents of 1st and judges choice of each semi-final

I do not get the Malaki thing. I agree with you. He sang poorly, was clearly struggling under the pressure yet people still voted for him in their droves.

There may have also been a bit of a backlash against Ryan simply because of the fuss made about him by SImon & him being on the Voice already.
Loveable Rogues will probably have had their vote diluted by The Mend.

It was the weakest Semi Final which made the gap seem massive. Looking at the final Kai and Natalia were last with under half a percent. The dog at the chior and the mend to beat in the first semi which was much tougher.

Two interesting things:

In their heats;
The Mend – 11.8%
Twist & Pulse Dance Co - 17.6%
And yet Simon brough back The Mend over Twist and Pulse

Further, in heat 4 the result was:
Sam Kelly – 26.8%
Malakai Paul – 25.2%
Nu Sxool – 20.0%

So Nu Sxool were in fact 3rd - No wonder on that occasion Simon didn't take it back to the public vote!

Total proof if it were needed that Simon wanted Nu Sxool no matter what and also didn't wan't Twist & Pulse overshadowing them in the final and so brought back The Mend, even though Twist and Pulse were more popular.

Fixed all the way by Simon!

He deserved a lot more than that (especially seeing how he won his semi by a big margin). Irish viewers were hampered by having to log on to the internet to vote, and it's obvious that Only Boys Aloud benefitted from a massive Welsh vote.

Was not keen on Ryan and there was something about him that did not sit well with me. Malaki was getting the cute votes to be brutally honest because his pitch was terrible in the semi final. Even if the loveable rouges had all the mend votes they would not of got third. The dog rightfully won by some clear distance.

Exactly. One other interesting thing about running orders. Only Boys Aloud are the first act to finish outside the top 2 that were given the pimp slot in the first semi-final & they finished 3rd. It matters all the way through, even down to audition pimp slots etc.

I'm going to have more bets if I watch it next year, knowing what I do now!

Callum & Four Corners were the only two acts even reasonably close to gettiing into a play-off who didn't but even they were a way off. Surprised as I didn't rate either of them.

They need to look closely at who goes on what night. The 1st heat has barely any votes between Mr Zip in 4th and the botto act - and 2% for the act in 4th is pretty woeful when some nights that would come last.

Same. I didn't see the appeal tbh.

Yes because Simon wanted Nu Sxool and so both Malachi and Twist and Pulse were paid the price for them to be in the final with no competition.

Glad it backfired on him!

It's debatable whether Kai & Natalia really should have made the final. They were the best of a bad bunch to come 2nd in their semi and came last in the final. Seems like they went out their way to make sure J&C didn't have much competition in their semi final.

But that's only on percentages not votes - and percentages on a given night. The Mend may have twice as many votes as T&P.

I would imagine the nights of J&C and of A&P were probably the two highest cumulative vote nights.

I posted before that I thought the whole Ryan thing was a bit of a smoke-screen from Simon. He thought he'd push Ryan more because recently none of his favoured singers have actually won.
I think he really wanted J & C to win it & thought they would walk it in the pimp slot.

Someone posted on the main thread that Ashleigh had tweeted earlier in the day that she was opening for the final but obviously she ended up going on second to last. I wonder if this was changed today because they realised so many people would switch off after it & he underestimated their threat.

It's still odd the Mend were switched to a stronger semi-final in place of the sugar dandies & they then announce they're going to have a wildcard for the first time.

Not that it matters, I'm sure he'll still make a killing from most of the singers anyway.

And before anyone says anything I think A & P totally deserved to win!
