Hasn't it been something like 25 years since The Whole Story? Kate Bush needs a new collection of singles and popular album tracks - a retrospective as opposed to a 'greatest hits'.

What would you like to see on there?

I agree she does. Although i wouldn't buy it as i enjoy her album tracks a lot more

She owns full rights from The Sensual world onwards so she could easily do a volume 2 of The Whole Story with singles from that album onwards.

She has Hounds of Love and The Dreaming aswell.

I'd like to see all the albums remastered, The Red Shoes was remastered last year and it's fantastic. A re-release of the Hammersmith show & live album. A new singles collection with a deluxe edition of all her music videos, possibly in HD

Maybe in 6 years when it's the 40th anniversary of Wuthering Heights, she may come around to the idea of a "40 years of Kate Bush" or something.

there's not a single 'best of' i can think of that is actually a 'best of' of anyone's work. Studio albums are where the best work is to be found

I am not fond of remastered albums but i understand music lovers like them. I just like the old original sound of an album when i buy and Kate album shouldn't be messed with.

That would be fantastic. Or at least for her 35th anniversary to do something.

Kate's work always shines best on the albums on which they came from and to appreciate her fully you need to hear those albums and TBH The Whole Story wasn't exactly something to write home about so i think on this occasion i will disagree.

THS and Directors Cut are out there and stand as good introductory albums and it just seems a bit unnecessary as you can get many of her studio albums cheap anyway.

But if i had to choose a tracklisting:

Wuthering Heights (original vocal)
The Man With The Child in his eyes
Hammer Horror
Wow
Babooshka
Breathing
Army Dreamers
Sat In Your Lap
The Dreaming
Running up that hill
hounds of love
cloudbusting
the big sky
the sensual world
this womans work
love and anger
Rubberband girl
And so is love
King of the mountain
Deeper Understand (2011)
Wild man

It's a Peter Gabriel track, but it wouldn't be out of place on a best of Kate

Well generally that is what a best of consists of you know the biggest singles i was merely narrowing down and suggesting what singles i would like to see on there

But seeing as you consider yourself a great thinker please enlighten me as to what you would like to see on a best of singles collection to introduce people and celebrate Kates work

I thought it was credited to both artists?

Exactly if except in kate's case for reasons of space the most populous or best i.e Breathing in place of Army Dreamers.

And it is Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush but he wrote it etc so it is his like Snowed in at wheeler street Elton has a place on it but it is hers.

Rocket Man's an Elton John release - she covered it.

I'd bung in Kite as well though.

I was thinking maybe some of the songs off the on stage EP perhaps Don't push your foot, L'amour, James etc but agin for reasons of space.

I did say in the opening post a rertospective as opposed to a greatest hits. I don't think her singles fully reflect her work, and I'd want Them Heavy People, Don't Push Your Foot On The Heartbreak and Suspended In Gafa included.

I would have no problem with an updated GH album, along with a DVD of all of her vids....it is also about time that a DVD of one of her live shows was released

I wouldn't mind the idea of a retrospective if i didnt keep thinking just get the studio's instead thats why i would be more in favour of an updated Gh as only 12 songs and not necessarily her best just doesn't cut it maybe she could do a fan poll on her web perhaps but then again she is a perfectionist.

The track was written by Gabriel and appeared on his album "So" as well as several Gabriel best-of compilations since. Kate's vocal was a guest appearance. Gabriel wanted Dolly Parton for it originally but she turned it down.

Just as well. Pete would never have been able to get his arms round Dolly for the video.

up until recently I only really knew Wuthering Heights but in the last few months thanks to certain tv shows I have discoverd Running up that hill and This womans work and by listening to them online discoverd I also know Babooska, hounds of love and Dont give up....also from comments below videos i can see tht a number of people around my age(early 20s)are in the same position of just discovering her so maybe now would be the best time for a greatest hits
