I take issue with your comments - Tina and Chandi are the only dog dancing act (just learnt it's proper name is Freestyle) that have four Crufts championship titles to their name - they've set records and all with a dog that Tina got out of a dog pound. They invented along with loads of other tricks, the back to back trick we saw Ashleigh use, in 2001 or 2002 and they can turn a circle back to back as well as just standing still back to back. They have also been one of the teams that pushed the boundaries of freestyle and without them, dogs wouldn't be doing what they are today.
I loved Chandi's routine - the tricks Tina got her to do were so complex - I bet no one noticed the dog was skipping when Tina skipped in their semi final routine? When Chandi held the cane with both her front paws I couldn't believe what I was seeing. There is more skill in teaching a dog to do things like that than to teach one to just walk on it's back legs and jump through your arms and ride on your back. It may look flashy, but flashy isn't always complex or difficult to teach - but this is the problem with TV talent shows - *real* talent is very often missed as the audience have their own judging criteria.
As for your last comment, anyone who isn't 17 anymore should just not do anything then? Why is it any more sad for an older person to wear an elegant costume and show their dog training skills and bond with their dog, than it is for a 17 year old? What a sad world we live in.
