Keane make it 5x #1 albums in a row!
Only The Beatles have scored more (7).
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-18051343 I don't get how they're so popular. You hear nothing of them for a couple of years, release an album with almost no airplay/publicity and it gets to #1! |

Good luck to them for hanging on in there. I don't think they'll ever have another album as big as Hopes and Fears though. |

Glad for them. I think Keane are brilliant and are overshadowed by Coldplay (Who I also love). Glad they have gone to number 1.

I agree completely. I've been a fan of the band since the sublime Hopes and Fears. Watching them top the album charts again is an amazing feeling. It's quite astounding how they've managed to sustain a career for all those years, while so many others have fallen by the wayside. Well done, guys! |

Hopes and Fears is a great debut album and window for their musical and songwriting talent...

Brilliant for them. So many #1 albums but no #1 or #2 singles.

Keane are amazing. Tom is an exceptional vocalist and Tim is a great song writer. Walnut tree. hambug song, try again, a day like today, sunshine, spiralling are sublime tunes. They might be bland to some people but i think they are one of the best indie bands and definitely underrated.
Hope and fears is a great album and should have sold over ten million copies. It is better than 21 by adele which to me is bland. |

The album had dropped to No.2 on Amazon but is now back to No.1
£7.49 as an MP3 download. Should I wait till the price drops or not. Hmmm Sod it, I've bought it. |

I like Keane, but afraid to admit it. Although, their latest album isnt as good as their last 3..theyve gone back to the sickly songs of the first album. Not that keen..although i've only had a brief listen.

The band could certainly write hooks and choruses better than most. However, I feel they got picked up a bit too enthusiastically by the likes of Radio 2, which their music seemed to be tailor-made for. I think that's why they became rather uncool rather quickly. Hopes and Fears is a good album but not a great one. The songs are too samey and the songwriting and lyrics are hardly profound, even though they were sung as if they were meant to be. I never bought any the band's subsequent albums so I can't comment on them. |

Oasis have 7 (in a row), 8 if you count the best of.
. All of their 7 studio albums made no.1. Madonna's run was also interspersed with albums that failed to top the UK charts (her debut album, Erotica & Bedtime Stories). Elvis isn't even close as most of his albums failed to top the chart. (all data from Wikipedia). |

Some snobs in here. Keane make some really neat songs and Toms voice is always a pleasure. Good for them, happy and surprised to see a band that were successful a few years back doing well! Having said that I think the album sales are not too good.

Tom Chaplin can really carry a tune and for me has a great tone...listen to everything changes
Chris Martin, now how did he get the gig? he sounds like a cat being buggered by a dog.

I do like some of their material, Bad Dream i think is probably the last ever song by them i was into though, nothing stood out for me since then. But well done on them for having another No.1 album to their names, The majority of successful indie acts from in and around that era haven't been so lucky.

Their debut will always be there peak, i have bought all of their follow up albums and while none are as good as their debut they are still great albums worth listening to.

The UK Media misinterpreted this statistic.
1) Keane & The Beatles are not the only 2 Acts to have 5, (or more), UK No.1 Albums in a row. 2) Keane, The Beatles & Robbie Williams, are the only 3 Acts to have UK No.1 Albums with their first 5, (or more), Album Chart Hits. 3) The Beatles first 7 Album Chart Hits were No.1's, & the first 5 by Robbie Williams, & Keane, were No.1's. 4) That is not the same as those Acts having the most UK No.1 Albums in a row. 5) Led Zeppeilin & ABBA hold that record - 8 UK No.1 Albums in a row. The Beatles are 2nd - 7 in a row. Then it is Eminem - 6 in a row. 6) The UK Media think that Keane, & The Beatles, are the only 2 Acts with 5, (or more), UK No.1 Albums in a row. They always misunderstand Chart Facts & Feats. ACTS WITH THE MOST UK No.1 ALBUMS IN A ROW 1)=LED ZEPPELIN - 8 (1970 - 1979) 1)=ABBA - 8 (1976 - 1982) 3) BEATLES - 7 (1963 - 1966) @@@ 4) EMINEM - 6 (2000 - 2010) 5)=POLICE - 5 (1979 - 1986) 5)=ERASURE - 5 (1988 - 1994) 5)=BON JOVI - 5 (1988 - 2000) 5)=SIMPLY RED - 5 (1989 - 1998) 5)=PRODIGY - 5 (1994 - 2009) 5)=ROBBIE WILLIAMS - 5 (1998 - 2002) @@@ 5)=COLDPLAY - 5 (2000 - 2011) 5)=KEANE - 5 (2004 - 2012) @@@ @@@ = The only 3 Acts who managed it with their 1st Album Chart Hits |
