THAT IS NOT TRUE!!

Look through any teenager's texts and you'll see that 95% of the time we use proper English. If u txt lyk dis den u r seen as a thik chav.

The only time thing's get abbreviated is things like not using apostrophes, and using abbreviations such as 'tbh' for 'to be honest'. Yung ppl jus dnt txt lyk dis n i find it propa anoyin wen adultz fink we do!”

I'm so pleased someone said this. As someone who would fall into the 'youngsters' category, it really annoys me when people can't use English properly, even more so when they deliberately type things incorrectly. It's not funny and it just looks cringey.

I think things like "tbh", "lol", "afik", are OK, because they're abbreviations, not textspeak, but the rest is just lazy. Anyway, textspeak originally developed because it was such a pain to write a text message using non-predictive text on a tiny phone keypad - there's really no excuse with modern phones that have proper keyboards and predictive text.

The sound is nothing like school.

The 'x' is probably in there because they might think that it provides an illusion of them being x-rated in being a bit daring and a bit edgy.

But that would only last until you saw them!

I just can't stand the little girl with the big teeth who hogs all the spotlight. You can just tell her mother is the one who put them together.

Well they did that thing where they put their thumb up to their nose and waggled their fingers in a rather insulting manner. I was outraged and was in two minds about whether to pick up the phone and complain I can tell you.

You couldnt be more wrong

I wish I could only have to worry about a Kids dance groups name and what kid has more air time and the size of her teeth . But I have more important things going on instead of slagging young kids off

So how do YOU pronounce xylophone then?

Take the x from that put an s before it and ool after it and you have something similar to school.

The trouble with DS is that it is full of wannabe Gordon Smarts and all the other TV 'critics' who just say nasty things for the sake of it.

It's obviously their way of trying to stand out. New School would be attacked on here for being boring. I think that some posters on here (not singling you out, just a general comment) need to get some fresh air in the real world.

I agree entirely but...............it's a bit rich considering you weren't exactly complimentary to others in your initial post.

You can't stand a child who you don't even know personally, just because you see her on a television show and in your opinion she has "big teeth and hogs all the limelight".

Wow, just wow.

My original post was aimed at the likes of people on this forum who have nothing better than to pick holes in trivial things .

Hi there, my daughter is personal friends with Lewis from OBA, and Ben from the choir only lives a few streets away.

When you see how some young people in these parts throw their lives away on drink and drugs it is wonderful to see how these youngsters show that there is another way to live, they are all great role models and should be very proud of themselves.....

But the OP was only asking about the name and the spelling of it. Nothing derogatory in my opinion to warrant your initial reaction.

Well I certainly wouldn't pronounce it as kylophone.
Phonetically I'd pronounce it as zylophone.

An 'x' at the start or near the start of words is often pronounced as a 'z' if it isn't pronounced as an 'x' usually is.

I'm not trying to be a Gordon Smart or anything.
I'm just joining in a conversation that somebody else started

'X' is pronounced as a 'z', but I've never heard it pronounced as a 'c' (sounding like K).
I hope you don't think I'm trying to be smart or nasty by nature of saying that.

ok, didn't think you were being nasty or anything. I was always taught that xylophone was pronounced with a slight k before the z which would explain our differences.

instead of picking on the kids name maybe everyone should be commenting how they were the best dance group this year and well done to them. also if you really going to talk about a name karizma krew is much worse considering there all about 15 or 17 and even one of there members was in his 30's i think

also i just watched britains got more talent kids and pets on itv player and at the start and about half way through it shows some acts in the big room were they all wait and im certain it was nu sxool but in different colour blazers it looked like they were wearing the yellow and purple ones that they wore on got to dance last year as eruption, so i was wondering have they been on bgt before.
