It's basically what Icon Project used to do. Unfortunately it doesn't work very well since iOS 5.1

It's just your natural need to defend apple in all its glory, it's just what your conditioned to do now. Any time someone makes a comment in relation to ios not being able to do something your there with the usual "you don't need it"

I'm not the one complaining about the inability of ios to make basic shortcuts, don't use it don't care. I commented it was a complicated way to make a shortcut which brought you out in your apple armour as usual.

Just relax, you love apple and that's fine but some people can see its shortcomings but in doing so they are not casting aspersions on your manhood dont worry

All I can say is that I LOVE this amazing phone.

I probably only know about 40% of its features but as a new person to it I have plenty of time to learn.

One thing I'd really like on the home screen is a blue tooth and wifi shortcut. I've searched other forums and it seems the only way to do it is to purchase an app. Not the end of the world but it annoys me somewhat.

Does anyone know of a free way to add those shortcuts on OS 5.1.1 please?

Thank you in advance.

ps: if anyone has any tips or tricks, pls share with this newbie!”

Going to sound like an Android Fan boy but.... if you want this feature... buy an Android phone

Soooooooooooo.......

Thank you for all your updates.
Looks like I caused a few issues between people too

Anyway, I have zero regrets about getting this fantastic phone.
I'm sure the bluetooth and wifi shortcuts will come back when some clever person figures out away.
In the mean time SIRI does a good enough job for the bluetooth. I just have to get used to the iphone way of things having been a Nokia "simple" phone user all my life.

This is a great phone people.....in my opinion.

Thanks again for the debate and assistance

I wouldn't let it worry you. This sub-forum is notorious for its fanboy on fanboy action

Good series of videos that compares ios and android which also addresses this very issue.

Here's a tip for templates.

Copy your template from notes
Settings > General > Keyboard
Scroll to bottom and tap "add new shortcut..."
Paste your template into "phrase" field
Type something like "text1" into the "shortcut" field
Save
Repeat until you add your templates

Now when you go to any app and type text1 it will change this to your first template. If you don't have too many templates it shouldn't take long to remember which is which!

I also have a shortcut for my email address so when i type "eml" it changes it to my email address which I find really handy.
Everything Goes

Very bizarre sounding but there is no doubt financial logic in this for Apple.”

Its a bit like sighing up to become a Communist then discovering you don't have so many freedoms

Jail Breaking is the only escape from the Apple version of the Berlin Wall

Ooh nice.
Just had a play with your suggestion and it's just what I need.

Copy and paste from notes works fine but this quicker (and sexier!)

Thank you for sharing.
