decided to order a few things recently looking at the prices I thought great getting a bargain here then I went to the checkout couldn't believe how much was added on.
I expect to have 2 or 3 quid added on but I brought a 12" of madonna it cost £3.60 the handling was then £9.
So all together I paid almost £13 and it wasn't even express delivery now i'm wondering if it's better to just but stuff in hmv surely it will all come to the same total with p & p.
Or is it just vinyl they add on charges to?.

I'm assuming you are buying from Amazon Marketplace sellers because Amazon offer free delivery on anything if you buy directly from them.

You are buying from marketplace. That's the equivalent of going on Ebay and buying off there basically.

Marketplace is the area in Amazon when you order Used stuff and from other outside companies. It's still amazon. But your buying off a different company. I have one on their. It's great when you wanna sell stuff.

Same way. Each item will tell you who it is being sold by.

And the magic words:

Delivered FREE in the UK with Super Saver Delivery.

To be fair there are some marketplace sellers who don't charge for delivery but they don't tend to be in music - I got a perfectly adequate HDMI cable for £1.14 delivered last week from a seller!

It is available on all things Amazon sell to you directly no matter how little they cost! Make sure once you get to the checkout stage to click on the FREE Super saver delivery option as IIRc it tends to default to 1st class delivery, which costs.

This makes no sense to me because any vinyl record, be it 7", 10" or 12"/ LP, new or used has the same postage amount of £1.26 added on when purchased from the marketplace!

Likewise, with a large hardback book, small paperback, graphic novel or single issue of a comic the postage amount is a flat £2.80.

I'm think you may have accidentally selected an upgraded postage service.

Obviously, at £1.26 for a 12" record, that is very good value for the customer compared to other online sources.

I think you can cancel orders within a limited time. If you're not happy with add-on fees don't hit the final checkout button, would be my advice. There are loads of reliable online stores for vinyl. Juno might have what you want.

[edit] Ah, I see you bought from Amazon itself and not via the Marketplace service. Easier to go wrong that way.

Depends also if your order is sent from America too. I've seen a few things on there like that that were cheap, they then add £5 shipping on top.

So, what is Amazon Prime?

What do you get with that, (and an Annual £49 Fee), that 'ordinary' Amazon Customers
don't get?

Does anyone know?

I wouldn't bother unless you buy a hell of a lot of stuff from Amazon, even then I'd still not bother

Amazon prime is where anything you order will be NEXT DAY DELIVERY, which is why you pay £49 quid for the year. You can even do a month's free trial of it as well as like a demo.

No, it isn't. Not sure what you did: you either bought from a third party seller or chose an expensive delivery option. If you haven't yet received the goods you can still cancel the order(s) at no cost to yourself. Amazon is amazing: never had any problems and I always select the FREE delivery option for each item! Most goods arrive in 3 days.

Plus in our experience every member of the same household can get the free month's trial as long as they each have a separate Amazon account. Sustained us right over Xmas/New Year but of course you must have a diary note to remind you to cancel before they charge the £49.

You need to check whether it says fulfilled by Amazon or whether it's coming from an Amazon Seller. If it's the later then that's just like buying it off a different shop or via eBay or through a classified advert.

i wouldn't say amazon was a rip off at all, in fact i use it more than ebay to buy music and such i can often find albums for a couple of pounds used... sometimes i can get them at £0.01! [plus £1.26 for delivery!]

I'm not sure what it's like for other things i only tend to buy music and dvds but their new stuff there is usually very reasonably priced as well!
