People are not going to go out buying dogs thinking they will perform tricks for them and then dump them wen they dont. Get a grip.............. dogs are not obliged to sleep and eat bones all day, if a dog is happy performing tricks where is the harm? If he didnt want to do it he wouldnt. What do u think she does? Threatens to beat him and feed him cat food if he doesnt?. How ridiculous

Really?? Ohhhh so all those Dalmations and retrievers we got through the rescue doors after those films were a figment of my imagination (and all the other rescues I work with). Oh how silly of me to think the British public are moronic enough to do such a thing......

Of course a dog wouldn't do something it doesn't want to because it's not like it's a animal that wants to please. You see SOOOO many cats dancing around on stages don't you???

Sorry for bringing real life into a variety program, must be very difficult for some people to understand the cause and effect of something so simple.

I'd have been glad to see the dog doing what it was bred for yes (doesn't make me glad to see any animal perform circus tricks in a stressful environment) and sadly no it didn't encourage anyone to want to rehome a collie but it did see a influx of farm bred collies being rehomed to very unsuitable homes.

I take it you disapprove of any dog sport such as agility or obedience or Freestyle then? It builds such a bond between dog and handler, keeps the dog fit and healthy as they can't *all* be out rounding up sheep! As you must know, dogs need exercise - mind and body exercise to be happy and healthy. To just disrespect anyone's skill in training a happy dog that shows no sign of stress while perfoming seems mighty sad. Surely if more people engaged with their dogs and spent time training them, less would end up dumped in rescue to either be killed or rehomed?

No don't dispprove of anything that gives dogs a focus but I don't like seeing a dog exposed to those sort of stresses, and I saw a stressed dog as did many behaviourists. Lights, noise, heat, handlers nerves etc.

I don't remember disrespecting anyones ability? Off now anyway to walk my poor bored dogs who must live such an awful life being allowed to sleep, roam and not dance. :yawn:

This issue confuses me.

The act was "Ashleigh and Pudsey". Ergo, they both won.

I loved Ashleigh and Pudsey, they are a fantastic talent .... obviously not just somebody whos walked in off the street, they must search the dog talent circuit ... but hey it gave the british public some entertainment and they are good ambassadors/ambassadog for britain

I was glad that Ashleigh and Pudsey won. The dog did 2 different routines in the semi final and final and showcased agility skills as well as dancing skills. He won people over as it was different and the public voted for a variety act. Jonathan and Charlotte will do well regardless, but the hard work of Ashleigh and Pudsey was evident.

I don't know what anyone's problem is.

Ashleigh & Pudsey are, unlike the previous dog acts good as they were (and unlike Jonathan & Charlotte!) a true double act.

They were one of the most obvious winners for me in the show's history right from their auditions so I wasn't at all surprised that they won or the margin by which they won.
