Such as what? I thought phones for you were good but do you really think it is likely? They have stated that I can't cancel the pre order as well :/

Then ask them when they'll deliver it. Based on the answer it'll give you an idea on who to go for. Then ask for confirmation of the order. |

I gave Orange a phonecall a couple of days later to check up and they told me i had actually passed and as i'd paid the deposit the sim card had been active and as far as they were aware i had the phone. I explained to Orange exactly what had happened and the woman even said "now why am i not surprised this has happened with phones4u" Orange cancelled the new contract and refunded me the £100. I nearly took a upgrade out via Dialaphone this week until a friend pointed out today that they were part of Phones4u i soon changed my mind and went to mobiles.co.uk instead. |

First of all call Phones 4 U and ask them if the upgrade as gone through. If it hasn't then ask them why not and tell them that you ordered on the 11th with whatever tariff etc...
Then ask them when they'll deliver it. Based on the answer it'll give you an idea on who to go for. Then ask for confirmation of the order. |

I'm upgrading through carphone warehouse and the actual upgrade won't be going through until my phones ready for sending. Will phones 4 U not be the same? The phone is part of the contract.

Maybe I'm just worrying far too much although I somewhat doubt ill receive the phone on release day but I guess the only way that would happen is if I went in store on release day...

in more peculiarness on 3 different ocassions p4u have told me that i will recieve 3 different lots of accesories, original order was the 16gb memory card, a samsun case (£50 accesories) then when i spoke to them to discuss the accesories they advised the accessory box which is:
• Screen protector • Cleaning solution and wipe • USB car charger • Stylus • USB Cable with Iphone adaptor • Phone Sock Then in a live chat the assistant advised me that i will be receiving the 32gb memory card and genuine samsung case. Think its time that i call and ask to speak to the manager |

You have placed a pre-order with phones 4u. They will only process the upgrade with voda when the handset is delivered so vodafone will have no record of it yet.

I don't understand why people add an additional layer between themselves and the Network.
If I want a phone, I look around the mobile networks and see which one is the best deal, I then buy the phone from that particular network. I then have a direct relationship between myself and the Network. Carphone Warehouse is another prime example - a friend of mine has an o2 contract via Carphone Warehouse and he had a problem with the data connection on his handset. He calls o2 customer support (as he's on the o2 network), and they respond that they can't access any of the account details because it's being managed by the Carphone Warehouse, suggesting he call them. He calls the Carphone Warehouse and is told that it's a network problem and that he should call o2. 2 months it took to get his issue sorted out. The only time I've used CPW or P4U is for sim free or PAYG phones. |

I go through car phone warehouse. I get slightly cheaper tariffs than going direct to o2, also something free usually another memory card or some accessories bundle. If my phone breaks I can take the phone into store and they will give me a loaner phone until mine is fixed. Then when my upgrade is due CPW remind me which is something o2 don't do.

You can often get a cheaper monthly contract going through another company though.

That's all very well but why trade off often a small discount or freebie for a worse service? Obviously the signal etc will be the same but all I hear from friends who used CPW or P4U is constant billing errors, and being transferred from pillar to post between companies for support. You can often say to the networks direct that you've had this particular offer from this company and they'll normally honour it.

You mention being passed from pillar to post but somehow land the issue as CPW and P4U's issues not the service providers. In which case your not being passed anywhere as you know who to contact as your sure its their fault. If you have billing issues you contact the number on the bill no rocket science involved really. All my bills come from o2 and everything is viewable through the o2 website. |

I see don'tpanicspoint. For customers who want something that just works and don't want too much hassle if something goes wrong it is worth it to go direct to a network as that way your contract, billing issues and queries go through them and are sorted out by them.
Some people will just prefer to go for the cheapest deal, either because they don't have the money at the time, or because they don't care about customer service and know how to look after their own phone/contract. I'm the second person here. I will always go for the cheapest deal regardless. And dontpanic is right, these smaller third party companies will usually have some issues. which the actual networks don't have. (e.g stock limitations, refusing to do certain things like trades etc...) which i've all seen happen to people. I know that if a problem comes up with my phone i know exactly what to do and exactly how to check it and get it fixed. Same with the service. So i don't mind going for a cheaper company, |
