Why on earth is Hey Ya! not included or am I missing something

My choices:

A3. MAROON 5 "THIS LOVE"
A6. NATASHA BEDINGFIELD "THESE WORDS''

B1. USHER FEATURING LIL' JON & LUDACRIS "YEAH"
B6. MCFLY "FIVE COLOURS IN HER HAIR"

C3. SHAPESHIFTERS "LOLA'S THEME"
C4. ERIC PRYDZ "CALL ON ME"

D5. WILL YOUNG "LEAVE RIGHT NOW"
D6. 3 OF A KIND "BABY CAKES"

E1. U2 "VERTIGO"
E5. SCISSOR SISTERS "LAURA"

The two songs from Section C are perhaps two of the songs of the year, as far as the charts are concerned, anyway.

That was a 2003 song.

But so is Leave Right Now. Hey Ya is winning awards now so it must be eligible and I'm sure it was released after Leave Right Now

I think Busted will win it considering the likes of Westlife, Gareth and Boyzone have cleaned up in years gone by. However, I hope 'Call On Me' 'Leave Right Now' or 'These Words' can win

A3. MAROON 5 "THIS LOVE"
A6. NATASHA BEDINGFIELD "THESE WORDS''

B1. USHER FEATURING LIL' JON & LUDACRIS "YEAH"
B3. MICHELLE "ALL THIS TIME"

C2. GREEN DAY "AMERICAN IDIOT''
C6. ANASTACIA "LEFT OUTSIDE ALONE"

D3. KEANE "SOMEWHERE ONLY WE KNOW"
D5. WILL YOUNG "LEAVE RIGHT NOW"

E1. U2 "VERTIGO"
E5. SCISSOR SISTERS "LAURA"

I only gave Michelle the vote so she can come back into the public eye again, and possibly have a chance at chart success again.

For me These Words is the best song of the year, closely followed by Anastacia and Maroon 5!! I've sent my votes by text and entered the comp for final tickets...not like I'm gonna win! hehe!

It makes me wonder why some of those songs are even on there?

You have the strangest taste in 'sounds' ever.

It's one of those records, that springs to mind, looking back at the records that have been released this year.

However, I do really like Keane, and Somewhere Only We Know, and after watching the repeat before, I might be more inclined to choose them rather than Babycakes.

I'll second that, motor mouth. It takes a lot for a mainstream band to make me part with my money, but they did so. I hope they qualify.

Thanks for the heads up. Seems a strange place to announce it though.

How Eric Prydz or the Shapeshifters - two of the biggest selling songs this year didn't get in, I don't know.

The final ten are:

Anastacia - Left Outside Alone
Brian McFadden - Real To Me
Busted - Thunderbirds
Girls Aloud - Love Machine
Katie Melua - The Closest Thing To Crazy
Maroon 5 - This Love
McFly - Five Colours In Her Hair
Natasha Bedingfield - These Words
Scissor Sisters - Laura
Will Young - Leave Right Now

I'm rooting for Will Young, Natasha Bedingfield, Maroon 5, Keane and Scissor Sisters. If any of these win, I'll be reasonably satisfied. Although I expect Busted or McFly to do it.

I reeeeeally hope These Words wins I would like Anastacia to win too, that was a fab song, she's amazing as well...wouldn't mind if Maroon 5, Scissor Sisters or Will Young won either.....if Busted or McFly win this will all be such a joke

Edit: Just had a thought....maybe there'll be a spilt between the fanbases not being able to decide who to vote for so neither of them will actually win?! *looks hopeful*

Oh well, we can count Keane out then.

Still, on the other hand, no Eamon or Frankee continuously f*****g each other right back etc.

i am so glad that Katie Melua, Scissor Sisters, Natasha Bedingfield, Girls Aloud, Maroon 5 and Will Young got through. I was expecting Will and Natasha to get through but the other 4 are quite a suprise and i am so glad they are though. I think it will be a tough contest. Would have also liked to have seen Milkshake, Vertigo, Mad World and Toxic but am so happy with not all comercial artist through but im sure that when it comes down to it Mcfly and Busted will do well but i hope im wrong.

I am so glad that Will got through. I didn't see the Sunday programme or the results on PO'G.

It is most likely that Busted or McFly will win it as the little girls all vote with their mobiles.

I think there should be a rule that they HAVE to sing live!

Its got to be Maroon 5 - This Love - it has been the anthem of 2004!!

I've always thought Record of The Year has been rigged at the whittling down stage. They always seem to end up with majority British artists who are more likely to be able to perform live on the night.

The majority of big sellers and songs that have been getting a lot of radio play have been by American artists who would be less likely to come over and perform.

Wouldn't Record of The Year be crap if it was predominantly the artists' music videos being played???

Thank christ Westlife can't win it again.

Will Young or Katie Melua please.

Those that I would like to see in the final:

A3. MAROON 5 "THIS LOVE"
A4. DJ CASPER "CHA CHA SLIDE''

B4. THE STREETS "DRY YOUR EYES"
B5. BRITNEY SPEARS "TOXIC"

C2. GREEN DAY "AMERICAN IDIOT''
C3. SHAPESHIFTERS "LOLA'S THEME"

D2. PETER ANDRE "MYSTERIOUS GIRL"
D6. 3 OF A KIND "BABY CAKES"

E2. LMC VS U2 "TAKE ME TO THE CLOUDS ABOVE"
E3. MARIO WINANS FEATURING ENYA & P DIDDY "I DON’T WANNA KNOW"

However, those making the final will probably be:

A1. EAMON "F**K IT (I DON'T WANT YOU BACK)"
A3. MAROON 5 "THIS LOVE"

B4. THE STREETS "DRY YOUR EYES"
B5. BRITNEY SPEARS "TOXIC"

C4. ERIC PRYDZ "CALL ON ME"
C6. ANASTACIA "LEFT OUTSIDE ALONE"

D1. D-12 "MY BAND"
D6. 3 OF A KIND "BABY CAKES"

E3. MARIO WINANS FEATURING ENYA & P DIDDY "I DON’T WANNA KNOW"
E6. BRIAN MCFADDEN "REAL TO ME"

Edit: This was, of course, posted before I noticed who did go through :P
