Well it was a struggle but the England team won through in the end thank heavens, at 1-2 down it was looking bad and I was thinking of tomorrow mornings headlines in my head, but for a nice change we had luck on OUR side and the game just turned for us. We're still miles behind the other top teams and we haven't a chance in hell of getting to the final let alone actually winning it after looking at some of the other teams but at least for the first ever time we beat Sweden in a competitive match. We should qualify now I would hope, surely we can manage at least a draw in our last game to go through.

Andy Carroll's goal was a beauty, great cross and expertly put away just like one of mine from days past! ... I jest I was pretty hopeless in the air, ... Theo Walcott's blaster was just what we needed just at the right time and Danny Welbeck's Dennis Law style back-flick saw us grab the points.

Yes of course he's entitled to live like he wants and of course he enjoys it all very much but he won't be seeing much of later life if he doesn't ease down and that's my point. The thing that got my knickers in a twist was Irani this morning coming out with how well Alan Brazil looks, that is a sheer untruth and anyone looking at the two photographs can see the evidence.

I'm probaby going to get shot down in flames for this-- but I have an ear infection so am feeling very grumpy despite England's great win.
Brazil may love his lifestyle and it is indeed his choice, but no doubt he'll expect the NHS to give him a new liver if this one packs in even though it was his choice to drink heavily.

Hope the infection soon clears Steve, which station did you listen to the commentary on tonight?, because it was England I watched it on TV, it wasn't pretty but it was all about getting the points and we got them.

i moved around the 3 stations to be honest Billy. mainly though listened on Absolute and TS. thought Sam and Stan did a good job-- Matterface didn't get too squeaky-- though Stan was shouting over the commentary as he sometimes does. good passionate radio though. I'm actually really happy with that performance. the england teams of the past wouledn't have come back from 2 1 IMO so we should applaud the commitment they showed in turning it round. after they got back in front i never felt they were in danger of conceeding an equaliser. Its got to be said that the Sweeds were pretty poor both today and in their first game and deserve to be going home so lets not get too excited but, when we needed a more atacking performance, we got one.

Good post mate I agree with all, I can forgive Stanl0y for getting excited on this occasion as he's a true passionate England fan and it's not 'put on' when the national side are playing. I think at long last most people in this country have now accepted we're just not as good as the top teams any longer, in days of old we could always give them a good game but I think the both of us know full well what will happen the first time we have to play someone like Germany and Spain in these euros ... ah well let's just enjoy the ride while it's still going eh.

So will Talksport be saying "WE'RE GOING TO WIN"!?

How will Durham react to an Arsenal player basically turning the game around.

You don't just get "given a new liver" if you are a heavy drinker.

The person receiving a liver has to make a commitment that they stay off the drink via alcoholics anonymous etc before they get a transplant.

George Best being the classic example stayed off drink for a few years after his transplant, he only had a few blips after that, he did not abuse the new liver.

But surely Jack isn't that a case of "they would say that wouldn't they".

I liked and admired George as a player and a man. But personally I don't think he should have received a new liver, it was inevitable he would abuse it. All through his life he just walked away from anything he couldn't cope with, fame enabled him to do that but it's hardly the way to learn to cope with adversity? I'm sure he started with every good intention, but perhaps you should Mrs Best if he only had a "few blips" after the transplant. She would beg to differ I fear.

Walcott has shown he is world class and yet Wenger cant get the best out of him - time for Wenger to go and 'Arry to replace him!

Nivea For Men - It Doesn't Work

Beware, Nivea For Men doesn't work.

Talksport keep saying it "silences the irritation", but I can still hear Saggers and Quinn.

You can only demonstrate that you have stopped drinking for an extended period of time. Once you have done that you qualify. It is by no means a given that all people can simply do that as a matter of course. Many many many fail and cannot stop drinking.

He did not walk away from anything he couldn't cope with. I really don't know where you get that from. He went to many lengths through his life to stop drinking.

Nevertheless i think if you complete the programme to qualify for the transplant you should receive it. Best could have done a lot of jiggery pokey to attempt to jump the queue for the transplant, but he didn't. I think it would be a pretty sad world to live in if someone stops drinking and demonstrates a genuine commitment to it and we just turn round and say "tough, you can just die because you won't guarantee you won't every drink again"

Hi Ven, The fact is the majority of alcoholics die without ever getting referred to a liver specialist, Best fulfilled the criteria, he was just as entitled as anyone else to be given a second chance.

When an alcoholic receives a liver transplant it's like an electric component that keeps blowing a fuse, simply changing the fuse every time does not fix the issue of "why its blowing"

George Best was before my time so i've never appreciated his skills as a player and only heard stories from other people.

I wasn't referring to his drinking only, he walked away from relationships, wives, even his son. I get this from it being reported at the relevant times, and if I am wrong here it was because the reporting was incorrect?

I would not wish for anyone to be denied the chance of a transplant, on this occasion based on George's history I just feel it wasn't going to be successful and sadly I was not wrong.

Hello Jack, your post popped up as I was responding to Cantona, I can't seem to combine them, so see below (or above) as they say.

I delete the above on a daily basis but l still can't access the TalkSPORT website. I'm still using IE8 but wary on installing another browser as l have read numerous 'horror' stories!

On a separate note, why does TalkSPORT give out updates and results of various American sports overnight but they can't be bother to do the same for our own domestic cricket matches in the daytime?

It's a funny old world Jack, I find him quite amusing (must be the gambler in me).
The guy i would like to strangle is the one that puts an ad across the bottom of the page every time i'm reading these posts.
