UK Chart figures
Following todays midweeks, The Saturdays have charted at 2 when they have only been charting around 6/7 on itunes all week, it made me think how much of the chart is made up from itunes downloads.
Ive heard that around 99% of singles are downloaded nowadays but how much of that is from Itunes, amazon, play.com, hmv etc Does anyone know the percentage breakup? |

It's because they were high on pre-orders.
They will slip during the next few days as the sales will stop being so frontloaded. But now to answer the actual question. I don't think know how much of the market iTunes accounts for (not sure if the figures have ever been made public), but I'd guess at something like 60%. |

Where do you collect sales from? http://www.officialcharts.com/faqs/
The simple answer is all significant retailers. These retailers span independent stores, high street chains, supermarkets, internet mail order and download services. As a result, we estimate that we capture around 99% of all singles sold, 98% of all albums and over 90% of all videos/DVDs. |
