Do all the members in groups actually like eachother?
The reason I put groups firstly is because some don't play instruments but are classed as a group!
Anyway, I watched that Steps documentary and they all seem to be so angry and off with each other! Another thing, Girls Aloud coming back and I watched a few interviews with them and it's just so clear that especially Nicola just looks like she doesn't get on with Nadine at all! It's probably just me over thinking but it just looks like Cheryl, Kimberley & Nicola just dislike her! The looks they give and no warmth to her where as Sarah seems alright with her. If people are in groups/bands and they all don't get on, what's the point even doing it? I'd hate to be in the public eye as part of a group where we don't get on! Can you think of other groups well the Sugababes aswell being one! |

I think most incarnations of the sugababes started off ok, especially the most recent, but it tends to get bitchy in the end. As for other groups I would say the majority of them do get on, and that they need breaks because they cant be around the same people day in day out for years on end, thats when fights break out.

I've always thought that Frankie and Una from The Saturdays seemed really 'off' with each other and distant, as though they only ever bother with each other when the group are at 'work' etc, and even then in interviews it looked like they barely gave each other the time of day. I always felt Una seemed like the odd one out, not because of her age, but because it seemed like Frankie and Mollie were a 'two', and the same with Rochelle and Vanessa.. and Una just on the outside on her own haha, but recently it doesn't seem like that really.
I've always felt the behaviour towards Nadine from the other GA girls - I agree, when I've seen them in interviews the other girls, apart from Sarah, always seem really cold towards her now and again. |

No, I can't think of one group that doesn't have easy sailing.
Sugababes, Girls Aloud, Spice Girls, Take That... West Life seem quite chummy but maybe it's because of the lack of tabloid coverage about them. It mainly seems to be girlbands, actually. |

I don't think it's that unusual that people in singing groups or bands don't get along. Do you get along all the time with everyone at your office? No. There are always conflicts and issues, especially when you are under stress to succeed or make money. You can't always quit your job even if you don't like certain people you work with. It's really the same thing in groups, the only difference is it's before the whole world and the media is covering it.

What's the point in them doing it? - They do it because it's a job, like everyone else. There's plenty of examples in male groups as well, especially in bands where they write the songs together. |

Sugababes - always seemed to be probably. Sioban was miserable, Heidi joined and Keisha/Mutya admitted they ignored her for a year and whispered to each other or spoke pigslatin to each other when she was around (very mature). After Mutya left sounds like Keisha still had issues with the other girls.
5ive - didnt get on. I remember a DJ saying he had never met a band that argued as much as this lot. Steps - Wow for a group that were based on being cheesy and happy they seem such a miserable bunched that secretly didnt get on at all. Eternal - Clearly Esther and Vernie were close but seem they had no relationship with the other two and fired Kellie by sending a letter. Destiny Child - Similarly close between Kelly and Beyonce but they got rid of the other two and then one of the replacements. Most groups seem to have a couple of members who dont get along: Take That - seems none of them were best of friends and didnt keep in touch after the band split. Boyzone- ronan and Mikey were said to have issues. Oasis - the obvious pair. |

This pretty much confirms how close The Saturdays are. (0:40 - 1:20) |

The Saturdays seem to be one of the very few girl bands of recent times that actually appear to genuinely like each other and are friends outwith the band, this is one of the things that make them appealing to me as a pop fan.

Sometimes they seemed to be getting on great and other times were at each other's throats. If they'd all been the best of chums and sweetness and light all the time, I don't suppose the magic would have been there |

None of the other Pussycat Dolls liked Nicole Scherzinger and she didn't like them.

You can't compare an office job to being a pop star. Girl bands usually consist of about five members so you only really need to "like" four other people and travel around and perform with them. It's not like in an office or call centre where you're with tons of other people sitting at desks looking at eachother.

Even with Boyzone two of them stopped speaking for a long time over a silly argument if I remember rightly.
The Westlife boys seem to get along well, but they're generally known for their pretty clean-cut image and for being 'nice boys', so I suppose it suits their image. They've done the best thing they could do really - brought their families along on tour with them as often as possible, split in a good way while they all got along well, and decided to go off and do their own thing. I've seen times when they've mentioned having arguments, not speaking to each other for a while, etc and they've all mentioned having tempers, but to be honest, I imagine it's pretty common in most bands, if you spend that amount of time with each other and away from your families, doing repetitive things, being in different countries, being tired etc, most people are gonna end up getting at each other and having silly arguments and falling out sometimes. I like it that they seem to get along well though, it's easier to watch people on stage etc if you know they're actually enjoying it rather than hating each other. |

With the spice girls...read Mel B's book. She is very sorry about how she used to treat Mel C. She was horrible to her. Mel C struggled with her eating ect due to the stress of it all.
Theres also a very telling scene in their 'spice girls in america' doc. They are all having a laugh and Mel B opens the door to walk in, the looks they give. mel B just walks back out.

When you have so many egos in one band it's bound to happen.
Mind you if musicians didn't have ego's, we'd have a lot less good (or bad for that matter) music. Ego's are one of the main reasons for bands to split up ! |

I'll give you one perfect example of a band who all genuinely like each other, each of them have often said the other two members of the band are their best friends, and have stuck together through thick and thin for over 40 years.....

Did S Club get on? I can't remember reading any stories about them arguing or fighting. Although I suppose we didn't for Steps either and we all know what happened there.
Bands like The Killers, Coldplay and Scissor Sisters all seem to get on really well. I suppose bands who put themselves together will get on much better than bands who are put together by somebody else. Thats probabbly the reason pop bands like Spice Girls, Steps and Girls Alound struggle. |

I know Steps don't come across as getting on well with each other on Steps: The Reunion. Claire tweeted Dan Wooton that they actually all are enjoying the reunion and that the editing was bad. Claire also said to him that she felt that she should not have to answer questions to something that is a nonsense story.
When H's surrogate miscarridged the baby, the rest of Steps visited him to support him. |
