A bit like MissMusic said...i like the idea perhaps of ARTPOP being promoted by smaller gigs....small televised spots etc across the year post-tour rather than straight into the ARTPOP Ball...and if ARTPOP is in two volumes it can be spased out far more conveniently too

But back in the day albums didnt always have a wold tour to promote it...so maybe she can take the old skool approach with ARTPOP and save a tour until much later...plus with gigs and live shows...summer festivals/radio live sessions etc it will have the same benefit too...plus videos and radio circulation...i think itd be the making of the project personally...also a focus on the "less is more" angle of it.

The BTWB has been cancelled because she needs surgery.

Gaga must be devastated, not to mention the fans.

Quote:
“Live Nation Global Touring has confirmed that the remainder of the Lady Gaga Born This Way Ball performances have been cancelled. After additional tests this morning to review the severity of the issue, it has been determined that Lady Gaga has a labral tear of the right hip caused by strenuous repetitive movements in her performances. She will need surgery to repair the problem, followed by strict down time to recover. This unfortunately, will force her to cancel the tour, so she can heal. Refunds for the cancelled performances will be available at point of purchase starting Feb 14, 2013.”

So devestated for Gaga and everybody who was going to the remaining dates.

Wishing her a speedy recovery

Bad news indeed ----- I reckon that's going to take 2 or 3 months to get better with lots of rest

She may still be able to record after a while though I guess

Just heard the news, how awful. I feel very sorry for her, hopefully she will make a speedy recovery!

BTW BALL:
A concussion,
Vomited 3 times
Performed until she couldn't move and now surgery.

Always a champ! She will be fine I know. I have a feeling this means ARTPOP will be a VERY big world tour now.

It's sad news about the BTW ball for Gaga and all the people who bought tickets however it might make her focus more on her health in the future instead of working herself into the ground which can only be a good thing.

Poor Gaga! Hopefully the operation will be successful and it won't cause her any long term complications! I'm guessing they probably had to sedate her when they said they were cancelling the rest of the tour...

I don't think she should tour with ARTPOP - especially after this recent development. She's shown that she's so far incapable of knowing her limits and it's just too dangerous for her health. I hope she realises now that she's only human and that she has to know when her body needs to rest. She's so dedicated to her music and the fans that she works far too hard, and I'm sure dancing in those shoes does not help her either!

Sad for all the fans that didn't get to see the show but I'm sure they'll understand. Get better soon Gaga!

I'm so gutted for her. Not much else I can say really. Hoping she recovers well, so that she's back to her best.

She probably wouldn't forgo touring ARTPOP altogether, but there are ways she could do it to minimise damage to her health.

a) Do it in stages. Either take a few months break inbetween legs, or tour and break alternate months. The downside would obviously be that it drags things out twice as long...and she's taken about a year for TBTWB as it is.

b) Cut the tour down to a very lean 40/50 dates. The downside naturally being the lack of fans being able to see her.

c) Do a mini stadium tour with 20 or so dates across the major cities. She could go all-out on spectacle and use it as album promo.

Poor Gaga, this must have been so tough for her and I do sympathize with all the people who were going to see her in America. Reading the various comments on the article, haters out in force bless 'em

It's laughable and quite sad at the same time --- they have gone into overdrive and can hardly contain their joy --- it's like all their christmasses have come at once

There must be a lot of bridges missing their residents

It very sad to be happy about the fact a popstar has had to cancel a tour due to injury, it's very sad, think of all the people who were looking forward to it?

To be honest, I'm still in shock regarding the situation & I really hope that she gets better soon. I'm SO worried for her!

It's a sad truth that there will always be people in the world who take pleasure from other people's pain and misfortune - and that goes for both sides, those who are being rude about Gaga now and others (some gaga fans included) who say mean things about other people.

To those that say it's karma for what was said about Madonna or anybody else, I just feel sorry for them that they are so bitter and feel the need to do what they complained about before. I've never condoned the comments that some fans have said about other artists, and as a fan it does p*ss me off when we all get labeled with the same schtick. I know that there are people who have said some awful things, but to say Gaga's injury is karma?? Sheesh...

Anyway, her Dad tweeted that he and Cynthia are looking after her, and apparently she may have even had the injury already? I hope she allows it to fully heel before trying to do anything strenuous and that she takes the rehabilitation seriously. I know it'll be hard for her, because she's a workaholic but this is something that is non-negotiable now.

Nice to see how the majority of fans are rallying together - they're making a fanbook to send to her with all their get well messages, it's cute to see!

How people have been acting speaks volumes of their character, put it that way.

There's a lot of talk of how long it'll take to recover. Ranges from 3 to 12 months, depending. I imagine she'll be on the lower end of that considering she'll have the best of the best and she's young.

She's probably going to try and finish ARTPOP during her rest and plan out the videos and performances. Doubt she'll shut down her career for a few months entirely.

if she is wise she will resume the tour in the later part of the year.... release the jazz album with Tony Bennett this year as thats in the can.....and release ArtPop next year.....
Slojo

I would guess it will be a 2 or 3 months to recover from the operation but that's really all about mobility. Towards the end of that and depending on how she feels she might be able to continue working on the album because she could do that sitting down. She could even finish it quite quickly if she isn't doing anything else.

Then of course her issue will be when to release it because it will take longer for her to recover to the point that she will be able to perform and thus promote it.
MissMusique

I don't know much about her particular injury, but i think it's more like 3-6 months recovery. She's going to have to put away her heels for the time being I think - that can't have helped matters!

And I'm not sure she should continue the tour once she's better - they said it was cancelled not postponed so I don't think those dates will be rescheduled. It really sucks for the fans, especially because i don't think an official dvd recording was made yet? Probably lots of footage though...

She started touring with BTW very late in relation to when the album came out so I think to continue touring when she's recovered would be a mistake. It would only be for the die-hard fans anway. Better to just draw a line under it, and move on.

Whilst she's recuperating she can put the finishing touches to ARTPOP and plan out her performances and videos like toanythingtaboo said - I mean, I can't see her resting properly really so she'll definitely be working in some respect.

As you said Slojo, the issue then is whether she's recovered enough to promote it in the matter that she envisions or not. I hope she takes her recovery seriously - as it would be very sad for her if this was a recurring problem that hampered her performing!

So nice! Just shows that even though the tour can't go ahead, and she's in tremendous pain herself that she'll still be there for the fans! Must have made that girl's day!

The story about Gaga visiting that little girl is so lovely! Nobody could criticise her for that

You obviously haven't read the comments

Apparently her kneeling proves that the injury is fake and the meeting was just a PR stunt.

She named her wheelchair after a GGD mod she met the other day (Emma). Apparently they had an inside joke about it and she's thrilled.

So as Gaga put on Twitter before, she went in for her operation today

Wish her a speedy but stable recovery
