Seeing how Gaga worked with Queen's Brian May on her last album, then why not; especially as Gaga is a fan of the mighty Kate Bush (remember from her pre Fame days http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gpjCOV8esMM) ... whom was discovered by Pink Floyd's guitarist Dave Gilmour, hence I'd love to see something magical like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vl9OKddQBRg
Never ever ever ever seen gaga pull a Bush in that video before thanks for postin BK...that worked reall ywell...love the original of course but that is amazing! ))

And gags and gilmour i think would be more impressive in audio than her and Brian which i felt You & I was a bit overpolishied and a bit...i dunno....not my kinda thing haha...but something Progressive Rock meets Electronics would be so insane!

Oh and Hounds of Love album <333 right after Like a Prayer and Erotica as one of my ALL TIME albums its just so beautiful and love Kates performance there....shame she never toured for that album/era and showcased the story...getting off topic but man i would lvoe gaga to reinvent more into that Pop scope with elements of Rock nature (not Speechless/You & I mock stuff) but real kinda well....like that <3

Hi guys! I posted in this thread a while back, I love Gaga but I'm mostly a lurker on this thread and don't usually post. I was just popping in to see if any of you have a CLUE what is happening?! I am thirsting for new Gaga material, I can't take it anymore! It's been radio silence from her for months and months now, it's so unusual in the context of how interactive she's historically been with her fans and consumers. I really miss her presence in the charts, I feel like she produced an energy and excitement in 2009-10 that hasn't been replicated since. It feels like there's a gaping hole in the music world that used to be occupied by her amazing antics haha.

Does anyone have any info on when the hell she will be rejoining us? And what the album might sound like? I feel like announcing the title of ARTPOP so far in advance was kind of an own goal a bit, since the hype from the early release of information has now faded and sort of blunted the momentum in the build up to the album campaign. I'm worried about Gaga's place in the industry: she seemed pretty untouchable a couple of years back, but it seems people have tired slightly since then. I have full hope, however, that she is only one song away from reclaiming her throne as undisputed pop queen! I'd love her to have another amazing Fame-like era! (though I love the evolution of her music into the mature sound of BTW too)

So, in summary: anyone know any potential release schedules? and what the material might sound like? so excited, rooting for her majorly!

Thanks
In short;

Things seem to be pointing toward an August launch, with the VMAs being her comeback platform. News of her covering Rolling Stone as 'Woman of the Year' add further weight to this (breaking media silence). A reliable insider (Jeff) practically confirmed she'd be "active" in August.

In terms of sound, Zedd (one of the announced producers alongside Madeon, DJWS and Dallas Austin) has implied ARTPOP isn't an exclusively "EDM" album. It is suspected that it has urban/R&B flavour.

I wouldn't worry about Gaga's place in the industry. She lost her 'new girl' sheen, which was inevitable, and released an album that wasn't as accessible to casuals, which resulted predictably. Whilst people focus on the negative of BTW, sensationalising it's flaws, they neglect how successful it still was - so her place is secure in that respect. Her team are aware of what didn't work and will address it if need be.

Her announcing the ARTPOP title was premature, and understandably the year wait with next to no news dragged out the anticipation quite thinly, but make no mistake...when she goes back into Gaga overdrive, the world will be in her hand again. This break was the best thing she could have done. Absence makes the heart grow stronger, the slate has been as wiped clean as possible and people are hungry for her to come and liven things up again.

Elsewhere, she's recording the Tony Bennet duet album right now, presumably for a Christmas release. We do not know what's happening with her docufilm with Terry Richardson. Machete Kills (her film debut) is out in October and she has another unannounced feature in the works.

That all sounds highly feasible, and exciting! Think you're right about the 'Gaga overdrive' once she returns, she was always fabulous at creating hype so hopefully her and her team will have several tricks up their sleeve this time round. I think material is absolutely key, and as long as the lead single is killer I think it will be remarkably easy for her to glide back into dominance again.

Also, excited that she might have some RnB flavour!! Would die to hear her take that on.

Thanks for all your help will probably return to post again in this thread next time we get some news

No worries. It'd be good if these threads had a first post with all up-to-date news so people can pop in whenever and get the low-down. Alas.

Yeah, she and her team are pretty clued up on promo and harnessing her media power. I imagine this time will be even more relentless now that they've seen what does and doesn't work well with BTW. Their current quiet before the storm approach is a testament to that.

I agree that it all comes down to the lead. The "she's back/we love her again" hype will take over and do a lot of the work. I think people often want to like her, but she makes it kind of difficult for them with her shenanigans. It's shallow, but if she returns as a pretty, fun Gaga with killer pop hooks and less "pretentious" concepts, it'll be fine.

I wonder if we will hear any news on a BORN THIS WAY BALL dvd
Gaga told fans that a show in Sydney was filmed. Obviously things have postponed due to her injury, but was curious.

This, 100%. Literally sums up what her situation is, I think.

I hope there is one too as I want something to remember the night by! I wonder whether she'll incorporate it into whatever she's doing with Terry Richardson. So perhaps bits of BTW show as well as backstage footage and perhaps insight into her working on artpop too.

Great news about the Forbes list - goes to show how her presence is still felt even without releasing new music, or finishing her tour!

I'm ready for her to come back now! She seems to e making a good recovery and if I'm honest, the music world is suffering without her there to liven things up! I miss her music, performances and award show appearances!! I'm getting hyped for something to happen in August, can't wait to hear new music!!!

Yes , Lady Gaga will speak at tonight's NYC Pride Rally on Pier 26 in Tribeca. Event is free, starts at 7pm.
She's coming out of hiding. This is it, kids.

Also, she said this like 6 months ago...

@ladygaga:
Oh. And when I tell you the album release date, I suggest you plan a party with your friends. Maybe I will too

Wow! She looked fantastic, good to see somewhat of a return to The Fame hair (even if it is only a wig), she looked classy and sounded classy both speaking and singing. Hope a full-length speech is released soon

I liked her speech - i thought it was passionate and charming! I wonder how many artpop references she got in there, when the album comes out we'll know what to look for!

And it was good that she didn't release any information - kept the night all about the rally and DOMA. I know fans were hoping for some news but i think it would have been inappropriate if she'd used that event for something.

She sounded great in her performance of the anthem - her skill is really improving and I liked how she changed the lyrics but kept the performance relatively simple! Hopefully this appearance sparks the change and now we'll see and hear more from her, gearing up for the new release!

If anyone (in the future) says Lady Gaga can't sing, then all you need to do is post that performance of her singing the National Anthem acapella last night, and watch the haters fade away.

When she says " we are the mainstream" i reckon that refocuses where she herself is at now and with ARTPOP pushing whatever quirky ideas she has into mainstream again....Born This Way as an album was very much revoking the past in pop as a patchwork album and also was very techno/militant/dark in places too...so i guess that is showcasing ARTPOP will contain more flair/colour/personal approach to push into the mainstream....

Anyways, thats how i read it . And she looked her best she has ever here IMO very 60s inspired jumpsuit and her wig here and facially...very sophisti-glam i like it

Yes Josh I thought so too! I think BTW (regardless of what people like to say) was her doing her take on the music she listened to and loved as a child. She'd been lucky with the success of TF and TFM so it allowed her to make BTW a lot earlier on in her career than she might have been able to had things gone differently before then. I see ARTPOP as her return to current music if you like, taking something alternative and underground and bringing it to the mainstream.

There's rumours that the album might not be called ARTPOP anymore... not sure where they stem from, but apparently ARTPOP could related to the style of the music/the album rather than be the actual name?? I guess we'll have to wait and see.

I thought she looked beautiful at the rally

Yeah which makes me all the more gutted that in her grammy speech she kinda didnt clarify she is inspired by her heroes (Madonna, Bowie, grace jones, Iron Maiden, Prince, Springsteen etc) rather than shoving Whitney in there solely but whatever it happened, it was a success as much as it could be and there we have it

But yeah....ARTPOP as a title to an overall era rather than album is an idea i had a couple days back when it entered my mind....I reckon she could come up with something more definitive than that...The Fame, The Fame Mosnter, Born This Way...they sound like definitive titles...ARTPOP sounds more a concept than an album...so i do reckon we may hear something soon in regards to that which would be a twist too

The "we are the mainstream" thing was referring to gays leaving the underground and joining the norm...but with undertones of bringing "queerness" into popular culture. She's said before that she wants to "make mainstream gayer".

In terms of her albums, I think it's best summed up with;

The Fame/Monster = the present (obsession with fame culture, reflection upon achieving it)
Born This Way = the past (exploring her creators musically, emotionally and spiritually)
ARTPOP = the future (where she's going next now we're all up to speed)

She's said ARTPOP feels like her first real album, probably because it's the first one she's doing that doesn't have an agenda (achieving Fame, saying what she felt she needed to) and is simply about creating music, pushing boundaries and driving forward with her artistry. It's her first proper chance to just explore "Lady Gaga" - the fusion of ART and POP.

The rumours of the album title changing are pretty sketchy. It apparently came from a live feed of The Skorpian Show, with the host being friends with Tamar (friend of Gaga and wife of Vincent Herbert) and talking with Gaga herself at Vincent's birthday party. However, I find it hard to believe he'd spill details like that - it'd get him in a lot of trouble and certainly cut off valuable connections for breaching trust.

She's said that ARTPOP is her genre, so perhaps it was never the album title. I can't remember if she ever explicitly said the album was called ARTPOP? "Get ready for ARTPOP" could be referring to the new music. She also said ARTPOP was a "project", so...

And yes, she looked and sounded great last night. Real goddess tbh.

I wasn't sure if she'd pull off the national anthem considering it's quite difficult and her range is limited (however powerful and skilled), so it was a nice surprise. Really makes me want to see her perform it at the SuperBowl next year, perhaps accompanying herself on piano. It'd be different and a showcase of her talent - plus, have the potential to be one of the most memorable renditions.

It's crazy how much her voice has improved since the early Fame days. Quitting drugs, smoking and getting lessons/a coach really does have a huge affect.

On her Twitter, some tweets have been removed. Her background and icon have also been deleted with her bio now saying "This interface has been shutdown temporarily. Please check back for updates." Could ARTPOP finally be on its way, or has she been hacked? seems to be the discussion on Twitter.

It's not been hacked. Her team confirmed it to GGD, apparently.

Seems like she's wiping the slate clean for a fresh start. I'm expecting a launch in the near future where she'll update all social media with new imagery and details.

Rumour has it the lead single may be Tea. A few folk from the Haus have referenced it recently.
