Reading all the reactions to Lana Del Rey's supposed "diss" track. People seem to be saying about how Lana feels towards Gaga but has Gaga herself ever said whether she likes Lana or not? There's to people in this at the end of the day

The Lana diss track is just a bit lame, tbh. I mean, regardless of what was said...she made an entire song about how bothered she is by someone else's success. The equivalent would be for someone to make a long ranting post on Facebook about how annoyed they are by someone who's "changed". I thought we grew out of that at like, 13.

Gaga's never said anything about Lana either, so it just looks extra unnecessary. As far as I'm aware, they had a mutual manager/coach/PR guy or something back in the day, and Lana (then Lizzie) posted on his MySpace how cool it was to see Gaga blow up.

If we'd heard a lot of negative things from Gaga's old friends from 'the scene' about her selling out etc. there'd be more weight to the nonsense, but I'm yet to hear any of them slag her off. If anything they respect that she's kept so many of them close.

ARTPOP seems to be going a different direction from what I expected, and I'm cool with it.

I don't think as Taboo said Gaga has mentioned Lana, but to be fair to Lana this is demo is about 4 years old and while it does come of as childish in a way it's understandable because she likely felt a bit envious of Gaga's sudden success while she at that moment hadn't really found any, plus wasn't she having some type of drugs/drinking problem back then?

So she probably wasn't in the best of places and besides even if she doesn't like Gaga it's not really a big deal there's likely other singers who don't it's not worth getting mad about.

Is there an actual diss track though or is it just a rumour? I didn't even know there was bad feeling there from either side? As you said toanythingtaboo, I've never heard Gaga mention Lana, so not sure why there would be a diss track about her. Hey ho

I feel that she's getting back to her roots somehow. I'm getting a very Stefani vibe from her - I think she looks great. The selfie she posted was not the most flattering but nice that she feels comfortable enough to do it. I didn't even notice the piercing in the picture that was posted at first! All these small leaks and aesthetic changes are confusing - I have absolutely no idea where she's going to go with ARTPOP at all. It's all looking like she's gonna go rock on us but that wasn't what we thought before with the information that we were given about the album. Less than a month now!!

Fair play then, four years ago to many people was an entire world away, so many things can change and Lana and Gaga of all people have been through a lot of it, I do think they are better people for it too

Strange these things appear just as the ArtPop bandwagon starts to roll --- could almost think some sour people are trying to cash in on Gaga's fame

but I'm always, like you, try to look beyond.

Both did at some point overhaul their image to become the stars they are.

But I always wondered why it wasn't a problem in the NY scene for Gaga to become a main star in opposite for Lana (the backlash started long before the SNL fiasco)

I only can explain it to myself that this diss song was well known in the music scene of NY and wasn't much appreciated.

Just seen the thread and realised it did happen! It was 4 years ago so i don't think the fans on either side should be blowing up about it. People change - Lana and Gaga both have and if there's no love lost between them, does it really matter??

That book is written by an old friend of hers and from what I've read from it, it's pretty positive and complimentary.

It is strange. Especially because Gaga more stereotypically "sold out" to pop mainstream than Lana did. I'm not up to speed on Lana's backlash though, beyond SNL.

Gaga will have her critics from that scene (Lizzie was obviously one), but seemingly the majority are happy for her and like that she keeps her old friends/'the scene' close (Semi Precious Weapons, Lady Starlight, Breedlove, Haus members, until recently Luc etc). I'd imagine the Gaga then was much like the Gaga now - an eccentric, pretentious dreamer - but on a $50 budget. Or maybe she just has a good gagging order in place

I hope she'll give the premiere performance of the single at the VMAs - I'll be surprised if she didn't, it's the perfect launch platform and people are anticipating it. I've found award shows kinda boring without her so I'm hoping for a great performance!

Some fans aren't happy with the title cos they think it sounds pretentious but since have you ever been able to tell anything about a song based solely on the title?? Crazy if you ask me. On that premise alone, you'd have to judge nearly every song of hers - Teeth, Hair, Monster etc.

I also think it could be cool if every title was one word but I don't think it will be. I mean things may have changed, but she tweeted lyrics to a song called Sex Dreams...

Also do you think that this could be the continuum for the paparazzi/telephone story? I know it's speculated that Inez and Vidooh are shooting the video but I can really see this song being a continuation of her discourse on fame - so a similar theme to paparazzi.... Just a thought.
