It's going to be interesting to watch how this campaign plays out.
She does appear to have parted with Troy and has made a few comments about no longer letting people sign their name at the bottom of her canvas, no longer letting corporations interfere in her art, that there is no marketing plan for this album (she is organising appearances etc. herself) and that ARTPOP is the first fully Haus of Gaga production.
"We will no longer stand for the harassing of the artist, for the torturing of the artist, or taking of the vulnerability of these beautiful young creative minds. Tonight we will put ART in front.".
She also has said that she is rejecting the notion that she has to reinvent herself with each album because MJ, Elton, Whitney etc. didn't need to and that she doesn't agree with being expected to come up with a constant flow of new ideas when sometimes all it takes one big idea to make impact. She's embracing her own iconography and ultimate concept - the weird blonde art-pop icon.
"I'm at the age where you see blond hair and (breasts) and a (butt) and hear me singing about sex or fighting for gay rights, people start to roll their eyes. But no matter what happens, I'm prepared to go down with the ship," she says.
This can go one of two ways IMO - she does whatever she wants and welcomes a mainstream back seat, or she gets really hungry to prove that she can do it herself and fights hard for superstardom.
