Tell me about it! Of course I'm irritated that this has happened and have an opinion on the matter - but another fan war is just ridiculous. I've never understood why they happen (were there always fan wars or is it a byproduct of social media?) and think it reduces everybody to morons really! Why can't it ever be about the music?

Not to be mean Hayes, but when it's page upon page of your quotes with a reply that cannot be responded to, it kinda kills all chance of continued conversation :/

You've said before elasticlove that you're a fan of both Madonna and Gaga - what do you think? Just M's sense of humour, gaga got her just desserts or a joke that's gone to far? Obv M fans are going to defend her saying it's just the way she is etc but what is inevitable now is that the delusional stans from each camp are going to behave badly which somehow will only end up reflecting badly on Gaga!

I think this issue had fallen to the back of peoples minds but Madonna is cutting open old wounds and looking at her previous tours which are amazing, throwing shade at another singer is rather pointless

Her tour will be amazing regardless I'd imagine - they always do well and she'll easily gross
$300million I'd imagine or probably even more. So bringing Gaga into this isn't even necessary but maybe she thinks it is? ![]()

Madonna isnt being a bitch or throwing shade.
She is taking the micky essentially out of what the media has posted about EY/BTW....its hilarious and doesnt detract away from either song. I mean Madonna blatantly has eprmission to use BTW through Interscope and gaga anyway so it cannot be anything other than that. And Shes Not Me i dont think a lot of gaga fans will get unless you are elasticlove or BK but its mainly due to the fact that its always been the media pitting Madonna Vs....every female artist under the sun...its just the fact now its gaga and now Kylie/Cyndi/Whitney/Mariah/Britney...... But as Madonna has said she has seen gaga live and likes her, and gaga has said many times Madonna is a hero of hers.....why people forget that i will never know. But yes Madonna is cold sometimes...again back to Q Magazines Iron Lady Of Pop analysis...people just dont "get" Madonna in her humour, in what she does and what she expresses....but you cannot help but respect what she is doing.....personally i cannot wait to see the finalised performance. Wonder if it will be a Human Nature/gimme More stylised performance But either way...dont read too far into it.Said what i have said now...peace out!

Well when her own producer says the album which the tour is based on isn't up to standard I guess she has to do something to get headlines

Again, me posting again, DS are two weeks late posting the article...William Orbit expressed himself online and it was taken out of order....he was questioning the lack of promo for MDNA as an album and the non-traditional promo strategy they had taken tbh, and Orbit was eprsonal about it and felt that Chris Brown may have ended up with the rejected material from the album.
Of course it wasnt and isnt...but its a worry for a producer really...but dont read too much into that article...i posted in both the Madonna AT and the MDNA thread about Williams response to what he said and all cleared up...so again dont take it all personally ok |

Yes, I'm a fan of both.
Personally, I'm less than pleased about it. I thought Madonna would've been more sympathetic towards what Gaga is going through, seeing everything Madonna has went through in her career, but alas she does not. I can picture Gaga being hurt by this, her idol throughout her life, who she has nothing but praise for, seems to dislike her, and is fuelling the fan wars. When it comes to Gaga, people always refer to her crazy fans, which doesn't reflect the majority of the fanbase, who are lovely (which this thread proves), and nothing Gaga can do or say will change that. She's already said that she doesn't like bullies and that's being ignored, so it's just the individuals that are ruining things. They are ignoring Gaga's message which she's dedicated a multi-million selling album to, they won't change no matter how or how many times she says it, but it's an easy shot at dragging Gaga so they'll go for it every time. But from my Madonna side, I see that it is completely something that Madonna would do, but the "she's not me" at the end ruins the whole aspect of the tongue in cheek reference. Other fans are saying "she's actually poking fun at the press for the comparisons" but once again the "she's not me" suggests that Madonna feels like she has something to prove regarding Gaga. Others have suggested it's like the Britney collaboration on the S&S Tour, but I disagree. That was well done and appropriate, it reflected what Britney had been through an was praising her rather than making fun of her. This is mockery. I just don't think it's justified. But that's just how i see it. For Madonna it could be fun, I just don't take it that way. |

I actually like the sound of this mash up and it can only bring (good or bad) publicity for both women.
I think Madonna might have been a tad bitchy but it's just her way. i don't think it was meant in a malicious way. |

Hey Josh!
![]() To be honest I doubt me or even you (who knows way more about Madonna and her career than I do) can know what angle she means with the mash-up until the final performance. She hasn't said anything specific about the clip but you must admit that on paper and watching that rehearsal it does look like a dig. People always want to stir trouble and I know she's praised gaga in the past but she did make the reductive comment and unfortunately due to things in the past Madonna has a reputation in the media for being a bitch - misrepresentation perhaps who knows? I haven't met her. She may feel perfectly entitled to express herself (excuse the pun) this way and using such a small clip of BTW - I'm not sure she'd need permission as she's only singing a bit of the chorus. But M knew what will happen when she did that, regardless of how she intended it, and I just think it's a bit childish particularly as that all blew over ages ago. That aside, the tour does look like it's going to be amazing! Are you going to the Hyde park date?

It's so tedious that this has all kicked up again.
Reductivegate was fair enough, Madonna gave her opinion on the comparisons after being questioned. Now, however, she is throwing shade each night of the tour at someone who idolises her and whose biggest crime was making a song that kind of sounds like one of her own. I'm not against Gaga being called out for BTW, but at this point it's just kicking her repeatedly in the face over something so insignificant. Especially because Gaga probably won't say anything. That's the classy and mature road, sure, but it does mean that she takes a beating. What makes it so bloody ironic is that Madonna knows fine well what it's like to get accused of plagiarising things. Didn't she get successfully sued over Express Yourself itself? I guess - apart from ignoring it - the best comeback would be to join Madonna on stage to perform the medley. It'd show that neither of them have hard feelings, they're playing up to the feud and generally no f*cks were given. Well, either that or a sassy tweet along the lines of "Well, I guess Madonna had to include BTW to have a post-2008 hit in the setlist. Thanks for the royalties, having a whisky for you.".

But this is basing it from a small clip of rehearsal audio. When we see the full performance it could be in an entirely different taste.

And in regards to some other comments that are constantly passed around, yes, I'm certain that Gaga is aware what her team are saying. If she didn't then Laurieann wouldn't have been fired.

I think it's hilarious on various levels.
If she's attempting to throw shade, stooping to this level shows a lack of integrity. Not to mention the fact that Gaga just creamed her panties because her song is being done by Madonna on a whole tour. MADONNA. It's like Britney rejecting Telephone - who cares? Britney freakun Spears sang her song! I suspect it's to get attention. The proof of this is that it's done just that. The album's not doing so well, all singles flopped, what else is there other than the controversy? Let's wait and see who comes out on top after all of this, because even though they're not in competition really, Madonna has alot to prove. She's been around ages but seems to have forgotten to get out of bed and hustle her gear... Yet people are still claiming she is overlord of females just because she's been around for ages? She didn't decide when to be born or begin her career, sure she's been around a while, but the fact gaga is younger cannot be helped. Fact of the matter is that when you're suddenly surrounded by big fish, you have to grow teeth. And aside from all that, Madonna is a bitch, it's why gays love her, she's like a drag queen.

I think that was probably why Laurieann was fired too, I wonder how many warnings she was given to shut it! The thing is, regarding Perez's earlier behaviour, White Shadow and Terry Richardson - she doesn't employ them in that sense. They have their own careers and work with her as well as their own projects - so when Gaga is insulted or whatever you want to call it, it's their work being criticised too (I mean this mostly with White Shadow rather than Richardson or Perez). I'm not saying it's fine or mature behaviour at all - but she can't be held responsible for what comes out of the mouths of others, only for what she says.

The cracks were first seen on the Judas video set and then with The Edge of Glory, then Laurieann's big mouth just made everything fall into place, causing her dismissal. And now she's working with Nicki Minaj.
The further Gaga is from Perez the better. He's a vile bully, and that's completely against what Gaga wants. I'm not a fan of Terry Richardson, I've read some stories of creepy things he's done, and his photography isn't that great. The Gaga book could've been shot by anyone and it would still be great. Gaga needs to get her team together, tell them all to shut the **** up. She is the brand, they can all be replaced. |

OMG Perez is such a bitch it's unreal, I'm sure all those people on his show including Gaga don't actually like him, Enrique seemed uncomfortable especially as for the rest of the team, it's gonna change as time goes by Madonna's own team is an example of how a team can change regardless of how close you are to the main person

Well perhaps Gibson has learnt her lesson the hard way!
I don't like Perez either - I think he's a horrible person and the fact that people hold Gaga responsible for what happened with Xtina is crazy. It's not like he was nice about everybody else!! His standom of her does seem to have cooled recently which can only be a good thing. Yeah I've heard disturbing things about Richardson - I did love the book though ![]() She needs to get ahold of her team - whether she employs them or not, because what's the point in her keeping her mouth shut about things if they spout off like they do? |

I guess when you work in that type of industry you have to work with/talk to people you'd rather have nothing to do with. I don't know what Gaga thinks about Perez but they did seem to be close at some point. How played up for the media that was I don't know. Better that she has her distance now, even if he has supposedly changed his ways...
