Although it's sad to think we might have to wait another year for new music, it's probably for the best as everybody will be craving it. She can really focus on writing new songs and developing a new sound, which will probably (I hope) help in turning the mainstream charts away from all this crap rip-off club music.
I think also if she takes more time away then hopefully she'll have the opportunity to really plan out her next campaign - and time things better. I don't mind mistakes being made necessarily, as long as they're not made again. Gaga could well use this to time to reflect on what didn't work and what did and make sure that promo performances are well thought out, as well as timings for singles and videos.”
Yup. This downtime will do her a world of good. Whilst some other artists avoid being severely stung by overexposure, a Gaga era is a lot of work and has more extreme results because of it. Everyone in pop circles talks about the latest single, performance, video, outfit, statement and of course the album. It can get a bit much, so it takes longer for everyone to recover and want to do it all over again.
The mega success of her tour will be a nice transition between eras. Will certainly balance out the cynicism some had over BTW.
I agree with the suggestion of beginning the era with a summer single. It's probably the most ideal time frame for a Gaga campaign at this point because it allows her (likely dance/pop, and therefore club-ready) single to smash organically over summer, has the second single coincide with the VMAs (major era performance) and puts her album release in the latter quarter of the year when sales are good. If they play their cards right there, the album can debut to big numbers and when sales drop, the Christmas surge can pick them up and carry the album through to 2014, where hopefully the Grammys can give it a final boost.
In terms of awards, if they have the lead single out in May it will be eligible for the VMAs and can earn its votes over the months leading up to the show. It'll allow her 4 odd more singles to earn nominations for the 2014 VMAs too. The big lead singles would hopefully grant her Grammy 2014 nominations, and because the campaign will be fresh in the academy's minds during the voting (November) it could win her some awards.
