Has he been saying he turned her down since 2009?

Well on BBC Breakfast this morning (assuming this is what she is referring to) they mentioned he turned down Gaga in 2008 and he said something like "they played me lots of songs by her which I just didn't like. I have to be a fan of a voice to take the track". Which was an odd statement. He did go on to say it was nearly 5 years ago before she was who she was now.

They asked if he regretted refusing a gaga track and he said he didn't regret it.

So, Gaga is thinking of releasing ARTPOP in two volumes about 6 months apart. The former with the commercial stuff and the latter with the more experimental stuff.

I'm on my phone so cba linking receipts, but you can see them on ATRL.

Releasing it in volumes is something I had hoped for. People like frequent instalments of new music now rather than one big dump every few years. She especially has trouble with intense eras that burn out quickly, so topping up an era down the line would be smart.

IMO: ARTPOP 1 should have 10 tracks with 3/4 singles, drop in Q1 after the first single, then ARTPOP 2 should drop in Q4 or Q1 2014. Also 10 tracks with 3/4 singles.

Technically AP2 would be a re-release EP available seperately or as a bundle with AP1, so all combine sales. Basically a better organised and cohesive TF/M era.

I'm liking the idea of the two volumes thing. I bet each volumes has 10 songs each (or more maybe). I really hope that ARTPOP is released March/April so the second volume is October/November. Good balance.

Ah well, it's over now it'll teach him for the future...bitchyga

Hmm I think the idea of two volumes is very clever, kind of giving those who want commercial stuff what they want but those who want to see something experimental what they want too, rather good idea catering for more than one group. I guess it could have more appeal to the masses than Born This Way. Also, so hyped for the Azealia collaboration!

I am very mixed on this whole "Two volumes thing" i mean i loved when Janelle Monae and Robyn have previously done them but the idea of one "commercial" sounding reminds me too much of The Fame and the other "more experimental" which IMO sounds way more interesting left far later will be a bit of a risk perhaps i dont know.

Anyways will save until i hear the material of course and see how she handels it...also its a question of will she release them independantly off of each other or will she in Autumn/Winter when Part 2 is out release both together anyway...do i wait or not??? arrgh :/ haha!

Anyways like i say, will definitely see as to what she means "is commercial" before endorsing....i am more intrigued and bemused mixed together really...i dont think there is a word for that made yet...maybe ARTPOP is that word ???

The 2 volumes approach is interesting sounds like it might have been a compromise between her and Interscope so they've got all the more commercial stuff on one disc and the more experimental stuff for a later release. The only downside for me is the more experimental stuff sounds way more interesting and we have to wait longer for it and we all know what Gaga is like for time keeping.

I like the sound of Commercial. She said that every song means something to her, so we could be heading for TFM approach where the songs are catchy and radio friendly, but have meaning for those willing to search. That's what we really need.

With experimental, that really is interesting. This is the kind of stuff that could really reinvent modern pop, without trying to sound too obsessive/ridiculous.

It all sounds like the mix of TF/TFM and BTW that really is needed to make her both honest to herself, but also a commercial success.

He talks about singers who rejected him pretty much every time he releases something, then mentions how he rejected Gaga (and others) as if it's something he's proud of. He goes on about how he's so over it but doesn't seem to mind talking about it over and over.

Nevertheless, I really enjoy Calvin's work.

Confirmed tracks:

- ARTPOP
- TEA
- BURQA
- PARTYNAUSEOUS ft. Kendrick Lamar
- G.U.Y (Girl Under You)
- RATCHET ft. Azealia Banks
- RED FLAME ft. Azealia Banks
- Elton John collaboration
- PRINCESS DIE
- PRINCESS DIE 2.0 (uptempo, different interpretation)
- Song about Indonesian conflict

Rumoured tracks:

- ELEMENT OF CRIME
- PRIVATE IN PUBLIC
- WHITE ROSE THORN
- MARY JANE HOLLAND
- PRINCESS HIGH
- RED LIPSTICK
- PEROXIDE SHOT
- KILL THE BITCH
- GYPSY

I'm liking the titles so far. Some I don't love, but the whole vibe is fun, fresh and different. BURQA will probably cause a bit of a stir, but I imagine it's a metaphor for censorship/oppression rather than anything actually controversial (i.e Judas).

So are the confirmed songs, songs that will be on the album or just songs that actually exist? One called Gypsy would be interesting

She's said Princess Die isn't on the album, they haven't picked which Azealia collaboration will make it (although RATCHET seems obvious considering the other hasn't been mentioned at all) and there's been no word on the Elton collab. PARTYNAUSEOUS may not be right for this project, either.

Perhaps it's only right that Die isn't on it, it's not a favourite of mine at least. Perhaps she'll surprise with the Azealia collab and is the Elton John one really happening? Because she was meant to do one with him on Born This Way I'm sure

Well, she said that Princess Die simply isn't as good as songs that made the cut. I think she said that the uptempo, reinterpretation of Princess Die is on it though.

There is an Elton collab somewhere, but it was written back in mid 2011 so who knows if it's still on there. Don't think she ever said it would be on her album or his, either.

Azealia said that there was a Kanye West collab that isn't on the album, so it'll be interesting if that appears somewhere.

It'll be interesting if she does have Elton, Azealia, Kendrick and maybe Beyonce or Britney across the two volumes.

I hope she was drunk.

Kind of unnecessary. I hope it was just the Bieber icon (and being drunk).
