I Feel Love is literally the sound of disco.

It's a shame the news reports about her death all dwelt on her allegedly homophobic comments when people who were there at the time have come forward over the years and said it wasn't true, and she even sued a magazine (who settled) who claimed it was.

A good friend and i are radio fans, good stuff the kind that has truly talented broadcasters. When another one passes, he says "another recruit for eternity fm". Hearing this sad news reminded me of his words and made me think that they have some awesome musical talent to play out now. RIP Donna.

'This time I know its for real' is a real pop gem and i loved i dont wanna get hurt, i know many donna fans didnt like her pwl work but that is an album i often meant to look up.

I also really enjoyed her dance cover of time to say goodbye but i could never offically find it anywhere. Some of her older hits were good too, especially loves unkind and hot stuff.

Listening to Four Seasons of Love on Spotify. Real Disco music - segued tracks (long long before Confessions On A Dancefloor), strings, orchestra and that lovely voice.

Wonderful memories. A true icon of pop music.

I had no idea she was battling cancer! Another legendary icon taken far too soon. R.I.P Donna x

As several of you have said, I Feel Love was indeed a classic. Even the Patrick Cowley remix was distinctive without losing its original edge.

Thank you Scrilla for highlighting Rumour Has It and Sunset People in particular. Another forgotten gem of hers was The Wanderer.

Agreed about her SAW collaborations - Another Place And Time is the only original Donna Summer album I have, other than a couple of hits compilations covering most eras up until mid-90s, and I love it.

I have the CD single of I Will Go With You (Con Te Partiro) [her re-titled cover of Time To Say Goodbye] and it has something like 6 or 7 different club mixes - think it was released about '99 or '00 and I still listen to that track regularly.

Lest no one forgets Donna Summer going toe to toe vocally with the mighty Barbra Streisand on No More Tears (Enough Is Enough). One of the most powerful powerhouse vocals of all time.

I think Donna's Cats Without Claws is so underrated. Such a wonderful artist, been a huge fan since the late 70's. My fave album is prob Once Upon A Time although hard to choose, she released so much great stuff. R.I.P. wonderful Donna!

Such a great song and often overlooked.

A bit of trivia. Bruce Springsteen originally was planning to give his song Cover Me, to Donna to record. Springsteen's manager Jon Landau heard Bruce's demo of the song, and told him to keep it. Cover Me ended up on the Born in the U.S.A. album, and was released as a single in 1984.

Instead, Donna ending up recording another Springsteen song, Protection, for her 1982 Donna Summer album.

Donna was a tremendous talent, and will be missed.

I agree with you wholeheartedly about Britney as a judge on the U.S. X-Factor.

Did so much more than I Feel Love - Loved Donna as teenager in the 70s and early 80's

Fave album was "Donna Summer" with the likes of State of Independence

Cant beat her Giorgio Moroder period. I remember at the time she was signed to two different companies and both released singles so she had a couple in the top 10 at the same time.
I love you and Loves Unkind, two great singles.
I like Rumour has it also. I feel love still sounds fresh today, very influential. New Order sampled it or based Blue Monday on the beat.
Didnt like her SAW period. Hated their stuff anyway. Hated Love to love you baby also. Just moaning that made that a hit!!

Also got it a BBC ban so it wasn't played on Tom Browne's Top 20 on Sundays!

Was just watching 'This time I know its for real' video again there on Youtube and someone commented how 'she looks so happy'.
I think that is a simple fitting tribute to Donna Summer.

I liked all the Bad Girls album. Even the ballads in the middle were good.

Not to say the rest is bad, but the Electro tracks on side Four still sound contempary.
Deluxe Version of that album is well worth having
