Good evening and welcome back to The Mix Factor!

Last Sunday, eight acts sang songs from certain genres assigned to them by their mentors. Later that night, it was Atle Pettersen who left the show after a shocking bottom 2 appearance alongside girl group Mahogany.

Today, the seven remaining acts will compete for the six places in Sunday's special collaborations show, whcih none of the mentors want to miss! Anyway, back on today now: the remaining seven contestants will each sing a song by an artist that is not as well known as they should be according to the judges. Let's see what songs the judges picked for their acts shall we?

Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome back the four judges of The Mix Factor and their acts!
Intro music for the judges (it's still as epic as it was in show 1 ):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=60X1yXhFgF4

_NiallDEE_ and the over 25s:
Altiyan Childs
Ruth Lorenzo

bbbnbbb and the groups:
Mahogany
The Fireflies

bboy1988 and the boys:
Astro
Reece Mastin

And Soppyfan and the last remaining girl:
Caitlin Koch

Nearly spot on this time with the timing today, are you all here and ready to go?

I don't know, it's better than Requiem For A Dream that the real XF uses.

Anyway, both Stephen and (surprise, surprise) Niall won't be able to make the show tonight, although Niall will be back for the results. I have their comments however, so we can start now.

Yes, he hasn't done even ONE full show this series.

Although he has his reasons, and as long as he sends in his comments and vote in advance I don't really mind.

Enough small talk, it's time to kick off tonight's show!

April, I believe one of your groups is up first, so why don't you give them a proper introduction?

The Fireflies

Well done girls! It was something a little different which I picked for you. It's slightly more upbeat and even a bit pop than the usual country vibe we've been going for. I thought you really worked the song and it was an amazing start to the show. I really hope people vote for you through to next time because you really deserve it!

The Fireflies

Hey there girls, I haven't heard of this song before hence tonight's theme which is about unknown hits. Considering this was covered by a controversial X Factor contestant, this was absolute genius. Even though it's not the kind of music style you would normally go and perform as, but it was a great start to the show. Well done girls.

I will post the absent judges' comments in seperate posts, I hate the walls of text that are caused by putting them in one post.

The Fireflies

Hey girls, when I first saw the song choice I thought this would be an absolute disaster, however having a listen I actually feel this performance was brilliant! I much prefer it when you do performances like this compared to your performance last week, it just makes you girls so much more interesting and makes you stand out much more in this competition, which is vital when the competition is getting tighter, well done girls!

The Fireflies

Girls that was a really odd song choice for you. First and foremost I don’t understand why this particular artist for this week. Anyway back to the performance, girls the performance was definitely not one of your best tonight. Vocally it is always fine but I still haven’t been wow’ed yet. I wish you the best for the vote tonight girls.

Positive comments from three of the judges for The Fireflies, with only Stephen saying once again that he has yet to be wowed by the girl group...

Up next is the last female over 25, it's Ruth Lorenzo singing 'Whipped' by Erika Fatale

Ruth, I cannot deny that your voice is one of the best in the competition, but you need the right song to go with it. Tonight, I don't think that was one of your best performances so far and you have done a lot much better than this. You're still a favorite but after that performance, I am worried for you later for the results. I wish you luck in the public vote tonight.

Wow Ruth! My faith has been completely restored in you after that performance. I was completely surprised (pleasantly) with that song choice. It's very Christina Aguilera but your Spanish sass still came through the song. I really enjoyed it and after that you SHOULD be back next week!

Ruth, this is much more of what you should be doing in this competition. This is definitely the direction that your mentor should be taking you in. I ask myself is it as good as you where back at the beginning of the competition, and I don’t thnk you have been as good but are starting now to move in the right direction.

Ruth, I wanted to try something a little different with you this week and I must say I thought it was absolutely brilliant! I think Erika Fatale suits you brilliantly and the vocals were amazing as always, and it was so great to see you do this as we're used to seeing you perform a rock song or a ballad and this was just completely different to anything you've done before and really suited you well, the public better keep you in, well done Ruth!

This sums up exactly what I was thinking. She's really redeemed herself this week but like Stephen just said here it's not as good as her original starting standard.

Mixed comments for Ruth, has she done enough to get to the collaborations live show?

Up next we have one of Stephen's boys, the one and only Reece Mastin singing 'September' by Daughtry

Reece Mastin

Hey Reece, I thought this was another pretty good performance! Your vocals were pretty good and the song fitted you well, however I would have maybe hoped for something a little more from you this week which would really make you stand out from the competition, as I don't believe you've reached your peak in this competition yet, well done however Reece and good luck with the vote tonight!

Ding, Ding, we have a rule breaker! Daughtry are not an unknown artist, I'm very mainstream in my tastes and even I've heard of them. Yep, they've charted many times and therefore you should be in danger purely for this reason. I think it was a good performance however, it's just a shame you didn't follow the rules because it's really annoyed me because if this song was given on the right week it would have been fantastic! Also, sorry I've dwelled so much on the rule break but I think it's really put the others at a disadvantage!

I have just looked back at what exactly the theme was this week and have realised that I mis-read it when I was looking for songs for you and Astro, opps lol. Anyways apart from that I thought this son worked really well for you. It allowed you to embrace your rock edge and also yet showed us a new side to your vocals. Well done Reece.

Well Reece, even though Draughtry is quite slightly known in the US, I really enjoyed that. You've been quite a hit and miss act so far. But after tonight, you are really much back in the race! I love the song choice, your voice suited the song so well. You should be safe for next week even though your mentor kind of bended the rules a bit. But for now, great performance Reece.

Stephen did say something about misreading the theme on the previous results thread IIRC.

I pre-wrote the comments earlier today and I wasn't going to change it because he claims he "misread" the theme!
