Do we really need a new thread like this, all this stuff is already posted in the adele sales appreciation thread and anyone who is remotely interested would have read it there

I'm astounded at this. I was going to say "Who the hell doesn't have this album by now?", but there's billions in the world so obviously lots of people don't. But I'm just shocked that it's still selling so well. It's a fantastic album, but I wouldn't class it as ground breaking or anything. I can't understand why so many people are buying it. Well actually I suppose I can...word spreads obviously that it's a great album. Personally I don't think it deserves this much success.

The key to this album's success is perfect single choices. I bought a copy in its first week of release and haven't played it in many months. Still, major congrats - Adele will live very comfortably for a LONG time.

Nope. 21 has never fallen out of the top ten on either the US or UK charts. Not in 16 months. Pretty incredible.

In an era when sales are much lower due to a number of factors (especially getting it for free online)..to sell over 9 million albums in the US alone in just over a year is staggering. Diamond certification in the US in the current era is nigh on impossible and she is closing in fast on that. Theres been what four in total this century?. Whats equally remarkable is she is doing similar worldwide. 2nd most all time in Australia, 5th highest all time in UK...her sales show no signs of letting up so god knows what she will have sold by the end of this year.

There hasn't been anywhere near this dominance in the modern era. Add in cleaning up all the major awards across the world, adulation from other artists across the board, she is the benchmark for this generation in both sales and critical acclaim. Hope she continues to keep her feet on the ground and doesn't get too affected being top dog.

She's done incredibly well, and deserves all the success she gets because she is undeniably mega talented.

Her Live DVD is not exactly selling poorly in the US either

Quote:
“Adele's Live At The Royal Albert Hall returns to #1 on Top Music Videos after being dislodged last week by the Martin Scorsese documentary, George Harrison: Living in the Material World. This is the 23rd week on top for Adele's DVD, which sets a new record for a video by a female artist. Whitney Houston's The #1 Video Hits had 22 weeks on top in 1986. Adele's DVD sold 16K copies this week, which brings its total to 853K.”
