Doctors does this quite a lot actually....
Vivian met her Man and moved away with him
Mark came back to wisk Helen away with him
Faith had a decent exit aswell moving away with her man (or though going Blind)

Rarely do one of the Characters get killed off.....I think Nick was the only one in 12 years (and was hit by a lorry after being able to walk after an Previous Accident)

Ruth got a great exit as did Simon. Melanie (? sp) went on to better things. George and Ronnie had a good exit.

That's what I like about Doctors, we get our happy ever after.

Wonderful episode today... I wish it could have been an hour-long special!

So, Julia got her happy ending? Although Zara, Daniel, Heston and Mrs Tembe were being infuriatingly selfish, it does show how much they didn't want to let Julia go. I am pleased that it was shown how important Julia is to the Mill and all of its staff.

It was emotional, and I managed to hold it in, until the Mrs Tembe and Julia moment! I did shed a tear because it was so beautifully done, as was the final scene with Julia and Martin.

Jimmi was absolutely fantastic today.... more of this please!!

Totally agree with this.... I've always had a soft spot for Elaine. When she is written well, she is dynamic and interesting with lots of potential. She has had some fantastic moments in this weeks episodes.

You should...I shouldn't say this but it gives EastEnders (and the other soaps) a run for their money and when Doctors does the Gritty Drama it really does the Gritty Drama

They are the best soap at Humour aswell

Yeah they have had happy exits also.
I wasn't keen on Ruth but her 2 storylines were fantastic

Don't tell anyone but i had a Tear in my Eye

That was one (if not) the most emotional episode of Doctors i have ever seen.
Julia is my favourite Doctors Character and i think she has been the centre of the show for such along time it's going to be hard without her.

Nice scenes with Jimmi and i loved how he supported her because let's face it Julia was more of a freind than a boss
She helped them all through their problems and as pointed out she always managed to give everyone a second Chance

I thought the scene with Mrs Tembe calling her Julia was quite moving and it was good to see everyone from the Mill being able to attend her farewell party

Nice to have Julia locking up for the last time and walking off into the Mist with Martin.

It's going to be hard to understand that as of now i've watched the show longer than any of the characters that's been in it

Jimmi is now the longest Serving Member of the cast and i hope he sticks around. He should be made a partner now.

Fantastic episode....Fitting end to a legend 10/10
Julia will be missed

Looking forward to the start of the New Era on Monday.

I alway feel that she is the voice of calm and reason when situations become stressful. I don't think the writers have explored her history properly yet , we've had tantalising glimpses of her sisters and ex-partner (the married one she left to come to Letherbridge) but I think there is huge scope to develop her character further.

Out of all the Mill GPs, I would choose Elaine to be my doctor !

absolutley love Doctors and agree with most other posters re the annoying Freya, awful mandy, missing characters like George and Ronnie etc - re Julia's exit - I found it interesting that no one on here seemed to think that she DID have some sort of duty to work her notice and not leave on the day she announced she was leaving!
People are saying Daniel, Zara and Heston were selfish but actually I think Julia was (don't shoot me!) because she was landing them in it - expecting them to cope as partners with no hand over or anything! no wonder Jimmi could be more generous (although his character is kinder and more empathic) - cos he not a partner and so not expected to pick up Julia's workload in the same way. Yes, she might not have got that job but she could still have worked her notice and gone to live with Martin ....
anyone agree??
won't know yet how much her character will be missed until the new one comes into play and we give him time to take up the Julia mantle. i usually hate change but guess it is needed. still think the biggest mistake is pairing up all the staff - apart from Daniel and Zara. they make a great couple. but it so narrows the storyline options. hope Jimmi doesn't stay with Cherry but he seems well under her thumb. he never looks happy though.
finally - i hope we see more of Mrs Tembe's - Winnifred's - (loved that moment) background/family history. will we ever?
loved the way the final shots were lit/filmed.
anyone know why Diana Keaton wanted to leave?

I'm looking forward to seeing how everything happens without Julia.

Mrs Tembe and Heston need to fall in love <3

I agree. Janet Dibley is a really great actress as well. I loved her storyline with Ed. I hope she gets more storyline too and we get to see different sides to Elaine.

I got that feeling when I read the spoilers yesterday!!

Sounds like the new Practice Manager will be cracking the whip! I think a lot of the Doctors will realise how cushy they had it with Julia!

Gorgeous episode....I loved it. I`m going to so miss Julia on the beginning and end of the credits where she bangs her files down while giving someone a rollicking (I`m guessing it`s either Danial or Heston).
Does anyone know the artist/song of what was played on Fridays episode while Julia was clearing away her desk please? I`d be very grateful.
Thanks in advance.

Oh please no...can't stand Elaine and her preaching.

I was hoping that he has a family so that we get a break from the Hollins.

Not really because there was no good reason for Julia to leave in such a rush. Yes she had a job offer that made her moving in with Martin more viable but surely another job would have come up later or been coming up if she had served her notice period, I mean the NHS is the world's 3rd biggest employer. Also remember Martin was encouraging her to retire too as he has just retired himself so again taking another job in a rushed way may not be what Martin was "expecting".

But as Jimmi said to Zara and Daniel, she won't find another job so easily in rural Wales.

I know it was a bit far-fetched and rushed the way the job came up, but it also seemed to convince Julia that maybe her move to Wales with Martin was meant to be.

I wonder how long Julia will keep working anyway. I suspect Martin will show her that there's a lot of fun and freedom to be had with retirement which may appeal to her more than she realised. As Elaine said a couple of weeks ago, Martin doesn't seem like a 'pipe and slippers' kind of guy, so I'm sure they'll have lots of new adventures together !

Yeah I will miss Julia, the actress was a stalwart of the show.

Loved the way they wrote her own even if a bit rushed at the end, but I did note that she wasnt removing her investment in the practice so if opted for in the future she could come back.

Elaine explains things in the calm patient way that makes you want to punch her lights out

Having been a professional therapist myself for more years than I am going to own to she makes my blood boil. To have us portrayed as syrupy, simpering know alls dishing out green tea and advise is so insulting I want to smother her with one of her bean bags

I used to work for a national company and even with them having around 70 sites around the country at the time, the turnover of staff and jobs was very high. I know this is TV and they overlook such things, my niggle is the rushed way they allowed the main character to leave. If DK just wants to look for other roles then unless she has another roie lined up already, why the sudden rush for her to leave?
