Someone Pointed out to me there is not enough talk about all artists, gigs, or music on the main pages which is true it usually falls to your Gaga's and Rihannas and less Esben And The Witch etc unless you go to appreciation threads so i have created a thread to talk about whomever and whatever amongst like minded folk so anything you wanna discuss go ahead

I am listening to the new Little Boots song at the moment. It isn't quite my normal thing, but it's quite good. That said, it reminds me of another song, but I can't remember which one. Does anyone have any ideas?

It's on a music blog called Electrocutie, where I go to find out about the poppier end of electro.

Every Night I Say A Prayer.

I think her second album will be out very soon. Her comeback is going quite well - she is being punted to a slightly different audience.

The verses reminds me a little of Depeche Mode the violator period and another 80's song not sure what its bugging me now is it erasure and the piano breakdown before the final chorus very Vogue ?

And i know its alot more 80's dance than the synthpop of Hands always preferred boots to La Roux

I never took that much notice of her to begin with.

La Roux had a couple of good singles, but Elly's attitude is so off-putting, and her later ones sounded kind of lazy. Apparently, she's doing a guitar-based album next.

Her attitude more than anything has put me off their album admittedly whilst good was to heavy and relentless like she threw in every synthesiser possible and yeah well she is certainly taking her time almost 3 years since the album now same with boots thoigh.

I'm listening to a lot of Prog Rock at the minute with Touchstone, Mostly Autumn and Panic Room featuring heavily. I love that it seems to be making a bit of a comeback in recent years.

In fairness, there are TWO members of La Roux, not just Ellie Jackson

Yes but Ben just hangs in the background she is the focal point of the group and her dislikes of people are about as subtle as a steam train

And can't say im a fan of Prog rock my music tastes range from Kate Bush at one end to Kylie Minogue at the other and all thats inbetween

I wasn't really a fan of Prog Rock either (Pink Floyd was about as far as I went) but someone recommended Touchstone (they may have been from here) and I branched out with the help of Last FM. I'm really getting into it now.

With Pink Floyd you get the best musical effect by playing their albums through from start to finish. It's just not the same skipping, and picking and choosing tracks.

So it's like Kate Bush then enjoyed best when listened to from first album onwards.

I think i'm in love with the Velvet Underground "sunday morning". I don't know what it is about that song but when I listen to it, nothing feels real. That doesn't make sense but neither do the feelings I get when I listen to it.

as do i especially if someone is always engaging in different sounds can leave things feeling fractured

and i know what you mean i'm in love with Kate Bush Running Up That Hill its just as you say its beyond being merely just a song.

That song reminds me of last summer. I adore Kate Bush.

But you were also talking talking abou the later tracks, Ben is equally responsible for the music.

As for her attitude, can't say I've ever heard anything negative personally

I suppose so but having only heard their debut.

And she has said a few choice remarks in interviews she is quite pretentious.

Elly Jackson has slagged off various people, stated that she thinks that women who don't dress like her deserve to be raped, and generally given the impression that she loves the sound of her own voice. It might be me projecting, but there's a sort of arrogant laziness to some La Roux songs - they feel like afterthoughts. Her lyrics aren't great either, although In For The Kill and Bulletproof are good songs.

Why are there so few male synthpop singers these days? There was Hurts, but they seem to have disappeared.
