I`ve seen an offer in the tv times. it says:

Get in on our ultimate internet 300 plan, with all the internet you`ll ever need on your smartphone.

On the three network.
all you can eat data, 300 mins and 5000 texts. all for £13 a month and no upfront costs. contract is 24 months. don`t know if the phone is any good or not. is anyone on this plan?

a quick google of the phone shows it's very basic - not sure whether it'll last the 2 years

but if you dont need a fancy phone then it look alirght

TI will say this only once. No! Phone is slow and old. Only if you need the phone and none of the other features smartphones have would I recommend this.

Look at some of the newer midrange samsung phones coming out like the galaxy ace 2 or the galaxy mini 2

Depends what you need – as a basic phone it’s fine.

If you are looking for a smartphone then it’s too basic compared to what else is available now.

My wife has the phone and it is quite hard to read anything on the internet like BBC news. Other than that it isn't to bad as a basic phone.

A google instantly shows it is £40 PAYG (probably unlocked)
So decide whether you want the 24 month plan for approx £10 a month.

All phones are fine but some you want to use more than others. This has a small low resolution screen so would be for only occasional web use.

It is awful, even as a cheapo phone. My father has it and you literally have to thump the screen to get it to register a touch as it is resistive, rather than capacitive.

Plus, it only has Android 2.2, so some Apps won't work and it is really slow for even the basic tasks.

The reason they offer this phone so cheap on this tariff is because the phone is so bad you couldn't possibly use a lot of data on it - poor internet experience and no Flash etc.

friend of mine had it a few weeks and took it back as she hated it compared to her previous phones. Main cons - screen too small, too slow and some apps didn't work.

Yeh he is, i've used one and its worse than my old Nokia 5800 which actually had a resistive touch screen. Thats how bad the capacitative one on the europa is.

Wow... It apparently is capacitive! Jesus. It is such a bad screen it's ridiculous - you have to press it so hard that you distort the LCD panel. Don't even get me started on trying to "double tap" to unlock during a phone call!

gotta say I can't recall seeing so many bad experiences for one phone model. Amazed that Samsung let it out under their flagship "Galaxy" branding. The Galaxy Ace (or Ace 2) on the other hand, seems to be a decent inexpensive smartphone.

The Ace is OK, but basic. If you can, or want to, Three are doing the HTC Desire C [with Android 4.0.3] for £10pm

It's a pretty shocking device. The battery capacity is or will be less than 24hrs after so many cycles, it's hard to type on,it's quite slow and it struggles to update apps.

It's a capacitive touch screen.

Stick with the Ace - the CPU in the Desire C is pitiful.

It's just a Wildfire S with a larger screen (note - larger, not higher-resolution) runnng ICS.
Don't get me wrong, ICS is nice but a 600MHz CPU just isn't up to the task at all.

The Desire C is a horrible piece of marketing obfuscation - because they've done away with the Desire name for their flagship handsets, they've stuck it on the crappest one instead to make it seem better than it is.

That covers 100% of the phones on this planet.

It is a basic branded Samsung phone. There's better out there for your £50 or so, but most buyers of this aren't looking for miracles.

Got one on three myself but my friend uses it. He is not a technophile and he likes it just fine. Perhaps he is representative of their demographic.

Indeed. However this particular device is worse than most. My iPhone for example is now quite bad however it is a year old. Mum's Europa started running down quickly after a number of weeks.

My wife has the Eurpoa and I also have two spare Europas. I would agree with it being hard to read. I think losing your signal will probably be down to the network and not the phone.

Writing a text on the Europa is difficult because the letters are small.

There is no magic software that destroys a battery.
Obviously the battery is defective.

And I thought iPhones used 1000 charge cycle lithium's. Or is this just a few laptops?
