Didn't see this thread and just made a new one in the US!!! shows sub forum.
The first 15 minutes, upto the point they were transported was pretty poor, but then it got good. Really looking forward to this. And the lead is perfectly cast, something which Alcatraz wasn't (Not that they should be compared!) Looking forward to the next 9 episodes. I'm also glad to read that Canada don't seem to cancel shows after a few episodes and that we are likely to see the whole ten episodes. Hopefully it will become big and a second series gets made. Must remember that I've only seen one episode though. I may go off it in the next few! |

Just finished the first episode....overall it was very good.
I'm not to sure if its what I expected it to be since we only got a 30 second trailer for it. It was good to see so many recognisable faces from other genre shows, like Jericho and Mutant X. Some of the dialogue was a little cheesy, and the acting was a little wooden at times.. but I was surprised by the show's overall look considering it only has a minuscule budget. It's a shame the season is only 10 episodes long, and here's hoping it rates well enough to get a 2nd season. Most reviews I've seen have been very positive and I did keep an eye on twitter last night.. and there wasn't a single negative tweet about the show while it was airing. One thing though, Continuum is the first Showtime series I've watched, and obviously I had to torrent it since I live in Ireland......but my god all those pop ups and advertising at the bottom of the screen is the worst I've scene! The Justified promo took up have the screen! Very distracting |

Also, just after doing a little snooping..and I think the chances of a 2nd season are very big considering:
Continuum is on Showcase of the 6 dramas they have produced/co-produced in recent years (Lost Girl, Haven, XIII, King, Blackstone, Endgame) only 1 (Endgame) got cancelled after season 1 and there are still talks of reviving it and if it gets a US pickup Showcase will definitely renew it. Obviously its a little early to be wishing for a second season but hey

Ok, so my previous comments over female leads was pulled to bits and rightly so. I don't watch Fringe so wouldn't know that, I should have recalled Buffy for sure.
I am in a bit of pain due to injuries and on quite a bit of meds for it. That's my excuse. On reading the posts pointing my errors, I think what I was really trying to say is right now, Canadian shows do really good female leads. As pointed out I don't watch Fringe. |

Good show. Looking forward to the next episode - just hope they keep up the action and don't get bogged down in feelings and such.

The premiere of Continuum on Sunday night got approximately 900,000 viewers. For Showcase, that is HUGE. New episodes of Lost Girl usually top out around 300,000 and Showcase considers Lost Girl a big hit for them.

Just watched, pretty good pilot.
The story or something similar has obviously been done before but there's a few ideas that could keep it fresh. Also lots of familar faces from other cult/scifi shows, can't think of any other show where I had quite as many "Oh it's him/her from that show" moments. |

Enjoyed the first episode.
Wasn't overly keen on the future scenes, but the show got a lot better as it went along. Erik Knudsen looks like he's come a long way since his stint on Jericho as a teen warlord!

So...A promising start
I'll definitely keep watching, and I hope Syfy UK picks it up like it did with Lost Girl. The reveal at the end wasn't surprising, as I thought it was obvious that the Cigarette Smoking Man would turn out to be the older version of the tech kid. Any thoughts as to why Kiera's husband got so freaked out that she was in the chamber? Did he know what was going to happen? If not, then WTF was he so frantic and worried? Where did Bra'tac go? Died in the time jump (so he can pop back to Once Upon a Time), or just missing? Liberate's aims seem quite reasonable...freedom from corporate dictatorship, a return to democracy...but they're obviously going about it the wrong way. Will we get stuff that shows both sides are bad? Will Kiera have to question her loyalties? etc. etc. Time jump tech is obviously something already known about... the prisoner Keira caught said he used to work for SADTECH (?), CSM's company, and knew it from there. So I guess we have a predestination paradox there: the kid later invented time jump tech because of his contact with Keira...and that tech was later used to send Keira (and the others) back in time, giving him the idea in the first place... The kid himself also hinted at predestination paradoxes when talking to Keira. Quote:
Master Bra'tac from SG-1, the Cigarette Smoking Man from The X Files, Agent Duram from Caprica, Dr Park from SG Universe, Varro from SG Universe (also played two other characters in SG-1 and one in Atlantis). |

Oh: One thing I thought when seeing the Terminator-style spherical area the time jump caused... couldn't they go full-on Terminator style and lose Keira's clothes?

Not sure where Bra'tac went, at one point I thought they might have been trying to dig his body out when Keira confronted them but it's probably quite likely he will turn up again at some point. Missed Varro who was he in this again? Also her new partner was in Mutant X, Young Alec was in Jericho (as said above) and Lexa Doig from Andromada/Stargate (though her role for now was pretty much blink and you miss it). |

Varro was the one who first "played" with the knife, and threw it to the other guy, who then threw it at the dummy / 3rd guy.
I'm betting that CSM ordered Keira's boss to put her in the chamber, to ensure she went back (as of course he'd already experienced it at the other end of the loop). I saw Lexa Doig in the credits... who was she in this? |

Lexa is another of the Escapees, she has one line I think (about Bra'tac not getting through). Another familar face was Curtis from 24 as the new leader of the Escapees. |

Seems a bit like the '90's tv series Timecop based on the movie.
it has the convenient plot device of the magic suit. the capabilities of which are not clearly specified but will doubtless be what ever is required. it's not exactly Joss Whedon-esque. but it appears that the public no longer have an appetite for his complexity anyway. the fact that it is pretty low brow may work to it's credit. it needs to find it's feet. i'll keep watching. |

It will be interesting to see what the drop-off is next week, but providing that it's not anything drastic then it should be a shoe-in for renewal. Already. Rewatched it again this morning with the wife, thought it was even better this time around. Not massively sophisticated, but more than enough to whet my appetite, and the sort of show which is desperately absent from network schedules at the moment. |

I looked up Lost Girls ratings, and since that is such a hit for Showcase, I expected maybe 290,000 for the pilot! the good thing is about the such high rating that is even if it drops drastically, It will still get renewed with numbers like Lost Girl |

I thought the first episode was okay. I found her inclusion to the police force slightly unbelieveable, because at no point did she provide an documented evidenance of who she is. As for the escaped convicts, i can't say that their cause is something i find interesting. The world will always be corrupt, they just want to be the leaders of of it. But i do suspect her husband has a role to play in the revoultion.
