I just woke up to see on my phone that I have an Aiden Grimshaw single!! Already played it countless times!

Had a panic this morning when I picked up my iPad and Is This Love hadn't downloaded. Then realised I'd pre-ordered it from my phone and all was well.
I have to admit there were dark moments when I never thought we'd get to this moment (ramps up the emotional oratory), but now we have (dramatic sigh, wipes away tear discretely), and I'm so glad to be here with you all (sharp intake of breath):
Bring on the top ten and beyond and god bless Grimshaw!

I'm seeing loads of tweets re the EP v single versions and I'm so confused !
Can someone explain it to me please? (Apologies if I'm being dumb, I blame the fuzzy head from last nights celebrations
or just the fact that I'm old and don't understand how it all works

Both EP and single count towards chart position in the singles chart but on itunes they count single songs as singles and anything with more than one song as an album... Or at least that's what I know with my limited knowledge!

So, if you download the EP and the Single, that counts twice?
I've also seen people saying they've downloaded the single multiple times as it's free once you have the EP. Does that count as extra sales and push it up the chart?

The free ones don't count. The others do!

I didn't think it sounded right that free downloads would assist with chart position
So, he's moved up 20 places in 40mins. At that rate he'll be No.1 by around 1.30pm

Just butting in - if you buy the same single more than once from the same iTunes account it doesn't get counted in the official charts - a rule to prevent chart fixing apparently. Not sure if the rule applies to buying it as a gift. Better off buying from other suppliers like Play.com and Amazon as they will all count (although not sure if they have the same rules on multiple buys).
Anyway I bought my copy a few minutes ago, so another sale in the bag for him.
It is a great track and deserves to do well.

Thanks, that makes sense re the chart fixing.
The only place other than iTunes that I've seen the single available is Amazon. Not really a fan of the multiple buying anyway, it doesn't give a true reflection of how well the single is actually doing
