Why do people always talk about Adele's weight and looks?
Does anyone else here agree that there has been over the last few years too much talk about adeles looks and not about her music?
Or is it just me. |

Because we live in a shallow society where talent seems to play second fiddle to an artist's/performer's et al., weight or appearance.

Or is it just me. But it was so annoying at the time to constantly hear people going on about how beautiful she is, etc, etc. I'm pretty sure if she wasn't overweight a lot of people wouldn't have felt the need to go all over the Internet saying that she's beautiful. I don't think Adele is ugly or anything, just the amount people talked about her looks was too much. Rolling in the Deep is such a catchy song, but when it was popular everybody was just going on about "Oh, it's so nice to see an artist that doesn't use sex appeal to sell her songs blah blah blah", instead of talking about how brilliant the actual song was. |

I love adele's quotes about not spending her hard earned money on clothes and fashion and beauty but on booze and having a good time. I am male but women have such a rubbish time of it. Sure, I like nice looking girls but she is a muscician and not a model.
I thought we in the west prided ourselves on been at the cutting edge of the new frontiers not still going on about a persons physical attributes. Just my thoughts.

I thought that aswell. Not so much now, but this time last year it was really annoying. I like a lot of Adele's songs.

Or is it just me. 1) The pop industry is so full of sexy women selling their bodies that anyone who looks very ordinary - like Adele - is quite remarkable for that 2) Her actual music is too boring to discuss in any detail - so it's easier to focus on her appearance 3) A lot of people resent the fact that someone who is no glamour puss has become so successful. Some of the comments about Adele's appearance go completely beyond the pale. As boring and overhyped as I find Adele, I would never resort to attacking her personally for the way she looks. People who do are out of order. |

I'm not much of an Adele fan but it is annoying. She looks fine to me. I'm a little bit overweight but I look fine. I can appreciate her talent but her music isn't really my thing.

Every female singer or celebrity is judged based on appearance, weight, clothing choices, hair etc. It is interesting though that if you called someone skinny nobody would really take a notice but if you were to call Adele fat people would have a problem with it.
