I saw it in the centre of Truro city which was very impressive because of the amount of people crammed in like sardines. Then I saw it again later in St Stephens which is a large village. Both on the 1st day.
My youngest daughter managed to get her hands on one torch just after it had been used and then got her hands on two more yesterday because we know people that carried them on the 1st day. She's really happy and I have lovely pictures of her holding them that will be lovely to look back on when she is older. My eldest saw it on the 1st day in Penzance with grandparents which is right near the start.
It is definately worth seeing because of the atmosphere and the fact it's a once in a lifetime experience. If you can get your hands on one they really are lovely. I was suprised at the size and weight of the things and how shiney they are. I didn't realise they were actual gold plate. They really are so pretty when you look through them up close too.

We didn't have a scales?! I just thought it was heavier than I expected. But that's just me lol Daughter thought it was lighter than she expected. Guess it's just a question of what you expect from eyeing something up from a distance and then changing your mind when you actually have it up close and then holding it? I suppose I looked at all the holed structure and thought it would be lighter Also it was a lot bigger length wise than I was thinking so I guess that is why.

We're practically neighbours I saw it in Newquay, was amazed how enthusiastic we all were I imagine holding that torch up with one hand while running it would feel pretty heavy.

91 year old with the torch now. I bet the grandkids are all excited, bless her.

Sigh I better go do something useful, can't watch this all day. Enjoy the feed everyone, will pop back later for more people watching and chuckling away on here!

and ps I am now wondering just how much the torches do weigh! I so know my 11 yr old would know. She was busy telling me about the 8000 holes, 800mm tall and why it's 3 sided but she didn't mention an official weight. I can see that's a conversation we'll argue over when she comes home from school later lol I still stick with it feeling heavier than I thought it would be though whatever that weight may be

Bye Meoqui

The torch is supposed to be 800g, which is very light, but it also seems top heavy, so the higher centre of gravity will make it seem heavier or about to tip. I've noticed several people opt for two hands as it must feel a bit out of control.

It's not as elegant as the torches used in Vancouver or Athens, but it doesn't get all sooty (like Vancouver) and it's very shiny. I think it looks better than the red/silver scroll design they had in Beijing which looked a bit cheap from a distance.

Thanks to everyone here I have now caught up with what I have missed this morning

If the feed is reasonable I shall be able to see Bath later on but right now I think I should do a bit of shopping before it is too hot outside for me.

Must learn to ration my viewing or I will be another one going way over my monthly download allowance!!!!

Frome now - just got picture back.

Mad cheering and crowds all the way through, this chap has lost his legs and in a wheelchair - getting a fantastic reception

Back in the bus and on to Southwick, then Trowbridge. Very strange video feed from back of the bus looking straight down at the road - I feel a bit travelsick

The BBC's Vernon Harwood says: "Somerset has bid a very fond and very raucous farewell to the Olympic torch. Somerset has done the symbol of the games proud over the last 24 hours and it's now on its way through the rest of the United Kingdom."
Uh...it'll be back in Somerset later as it's going to Bath

I agree. I'm going to check back later when it gets to Bath as I think that will be one of the highlights so far.

Well the BBC feed on the right seems to have given up about 3/4 hour ago, so not much info to give. These motorcycle escorts are amazing - weaving in and out, stopping traffic ahead at side-roads, not to mention the nice leather outfits I can't believe how smoothly it's been going.

If it wasn't for the fact that we don't know who the torchbearers are, we on DS always manage to do a very good job of any form of WHATMERing, regardless of the programme content Maybe they are reading this page and realise they are redundant!

The torch will shortly be having a lunch break (hope it enjoys whatever it gets) so that must be our cue to catch up on real life. Bath, according to their schedule, will be around 3.30 and that seems to be one of the favourite destinations judging by all our comments here!

lmao - yep we can always make our own stuff up in DS regardless of the facts

Now I'm thinking that the map and the info feed are both stuck at 11.50.
