I have the same problem too. I also struggle to make it last during the day. It looks good for about an hour then after that it starts to go sticky as the day progresses. Even if I lightly dab at my face with powder and then brush off the excess powder with a kabuki brush a couple of times through out the day, it still goes sticky and I end up looking really heavily made up. With the exception of the foundation, the only other make up I wear is mascara and either a light coloured lipstick or lipgloss.
I suffer from an extreme form of Anaemia and I'm exceptionally, exceptionally pale to the point that my skin is virtually transparent. I have no choice but to wear foundation otherwise people stop and stare at me in the street and ask me if I'm dying of a terminal illness. I hate the bloody stuff, but I won't leave the house unless I'm wearing it. I won't even answer the door if I'm not wearing foundation. Not out of vanity, but out of fear. It's about 'fitting in' and trying to look as 'normal' as possible for me.
I tried the mineral powders because I thought they would be better for my skin and would give a more natural look, but they're so sheer that I have to put a fair amount on just to get any decent coverage. If I moisturise my face and then put it on (like you're supposed to), I end up using less powder but within an hour I look really, really waxy. Far worse than I do with regular liquid foundation.
I've tried everything on the market. Currently using Max Factor's Lasting Performance foundation. It's ok, but it doesn't last for very long before it starts going sticky.
My skin won't tan and I've tried fake tan and it never takes to my skin.
