Kate Bush vs Lady Gaga
I'm creating this thread purely because in the past month I've heard about four different people tell me that "Kate Bush was the 70's answer to Lady Gaga".
I love both artists for very different reasons, and have never compared their material, but since people have mentioned this, I guess there are some similarities between them ![]() Which artist is your favourite? And do you think they're similar? |

What an insult, was she heck. Whoever said that needs to actually listen to a Kate Bush record
The only slighy comparison is the theatrical performances they both do. But Kate's were more original and not a rehash of what the likes of Judyn Garland and Madonna did Kate Bush without a doubt. I have only been a fan for about three months but she is a One off, a legend, weird and just wonderful. Amazing Lady. |

I don't see it.. at all and I hate how artists are always pitted against one another.
I do love Kate Bush though. |

No offence but this is a dumb thread.
Lady Gaga herself would doubtless say it is a bit of an insult to be preferred to "The Mighty Bush". |

And do you think they're similar? I don't think you can legitimately be an answer to something you precede, anyway. These people who are fixated with notions of 'A' vs 'B' really should try football. |

HAHAHAHAHA good one.
Kate Bush is the pivotal female singer songwriter she is more than costumes and Pr stunts her body of work is unrivalled and whilst not many peoples taste she has intelligence wit and humour and did and does everything on her own terms not merely for sales and Celebrity you cannot compare The Fame to The kick Inside nor Never For Ever to Born This Way i like gaga i do but she is not and will never ever be in the same league as Kate Bush watch this and it will explain why. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oxvi4mWC0YE |

You cannot compare anything about either of them ever.

I like both artists but it's absolutely laughable that they be mentioned in the same sentence, let alone compared!!!
Why does Gaga have to be compared with every single other artist even if it's obvious there are no similarities? Other artists having a weird/theatrical streak doesn't automatically make them suitable for comparisons like this. I really dislike this aspect about other Gaga fans, sorry. |

I don't think there's a need to drag down Lady Gaga as regardless of what I think of her, she's still a very talented woman. People have kind've answered it above, the only comparison would be the theatricality's of their performances but Kate would incorporate Mime, Expressionistic Dance, Magic and Poetry into her performances. Whereas Gaga uses her costumes, stage theatrics and whatnot.
However, Kate Bush, creatively is one of a kind and not many people can compare to her and the ideas she comes up with to this day. And of course, musically their worlds apart. |

Both are completely and utterly different.
I see absolutely no reason to compare the two, or discredit either to try and prove anything. |

If you wished to compare the two then it has to be the other way around to make any sense, by saying "Lady Gaga is the 10s answer to Kate Bush". However even a statement in that form would be completely wrong. |

Kate Bush was creative, original and talented. No contest - Kate Bush is better by a monumentally large margin.
PS Did anyone see Lady Gaga on The Simpsons? To quote Comic Book Guy - Worst.Episode.Ever! |

That's an insult to Kate Bush.
Perhaps the only artist even close to her might be Florence Welch, though sh is very influenced by Kate Bush |
