Obviously any fan wants their team to do as good as physically possible but when you look at the success Man Utd have had and the money Man City/Chelsea have how do you honestly expect us to compete with that?

Just to let you guys and gals know, there is a documentary on ESPN Classic next Saturday night at 11pm called "Fever Pitch: The Closest Championship Ever", all about the 1989 season, if you want to watch it.

Of course we can't. Not without the Board changing their policy and/or some fresh injection of cash. Even if the aforementioned were to change, I wouldn't want us spending silly money, e.g. 50m for Torres.

Seems that the Spuds fans are a bit upset about something. Surely not another bout of upset stomachs? Fun read.

I just want a competitive team. It's not because City and Chelsea can buy players and Arsenal can't which is doing the damage; it's the same old, pathetic defensive lapses in matches which I hope Bould addresses. If you can't do the basics right, there is no hope.

The team can't dig deep for results like United and Chelsea do. I really wish I was a fly in the wall during Gazidas and Wenger's talks with RVP; wonder what they had to say when Van Persie questioned about the lack of trophies?

You'd be better off just on the wall than in it. You won't hear much there.

With our current first team and squad how far away do you think we are from the best in the Premier League and Europe?

Just to bring the mood here back down to more usual levels, Mike Ingham has just been VERY specific on Radio Five in saying that Chelsea will go straight into the group stages, UEFA believing it ridiculous that they should be forced to go through any qualifying round. As a result of this our position is still unclear. Entry into the qualifying rounds is still a very real possibility.

Oh well, there goes any more signings until the end of August at the earliest!

Exactly
As another poster said I wouldnt want us spending stupid money on one player though (like £50m for Torres) - OK he scored the goal that put them in the final, what else did he do?

I believe all four British teams go straight into the competition proper.
Having said that it is ridiculous that there is so much confusion about it.

We can't but we shouldn't be as many points as we were behind a distinctly second rate United side.

This is a joke Are you sure?
All that work finishing third, and we could still go out at the first hurdle. Meanwhile,.a team who have had some luck to be fair - go into the group stages
I thought it just meant Chelsea take the place of the team finishing 4th (Spurs), cant they open up 4 places for the group stages?
Bang goes RVP's new contract then

Aaaaarrrrrgggghhhhh. If I hear that one more bloody time....

We do not need a sugar daddy for the umpteenth time, City won a poor league despite not being that good. A massive selling off of the dead wood is a start, keeping RVP and buying Podolski is another. Buying the likes of Dempsey, M'Vila, a back up keeper another back up forward probably too and I suspect the transfer budget wouldn't exactly break the bank.

Then you need a coach with tactical nous and savvy which is where Wenger and his keeganesque tactics fall down. Why do we have defenders charging up field trying to score more goals when we're already ahead? Why does Song give the ball away in his own half when we're protecting a lead? Why does nobody run the ball into the corners? Why does nobody teach the team what to do without the ball?

Sort all of that out and you'd get a team that goes very close to winning the league that I'm certain of. Accepting what we have and blaming sugar daddies for our ills isn't.

I'm only reporting what Mike Ingham said but I have no reason to doubt it. He was very clear in saying Chelsea will not have to qualify and that there was still some confusion about how this left us. At this moment in time nobody really knows if we have to qualify or not.
