The best billion pound ever spent

And those who say Roman will walk away, not a hope in hell.

I agree, how anyone can believe Chelsea were heading for premier league and champions league success without him is beyond me. Maybe he should get an honourary knighthood for services to British football.

Sadly that is the way football at the top works nowadays, spend so much money that eventually you are bound to win the top prizes it's all wrong but it is effective as Chelsea would not of won the Champions League without Abramovich's investment. Clubs like Chelsea can spend Millions on players and if they don't succeed it does not matter or effect finances as they can just go out and spend more money on someone else.

Built a Champions League winning side with a British club purely with his money.

Stuff like this doesn't bother me really. Not sure why, maybe because money has always been a part of football for me.

Well done Chelsea.

Was the same when Man City won the premier league.

Even with money it's very hard to beat teams like Man U with the experience. Many of those players came through the ranks at Chelsea too.

Morally repugnant. How much good could he have done with his money. Instead he gave it to John Terry.

Don't think hardly any of them came through the ranks at Chelsea, John Terry didn't even start his career at Chelsea.

Apart from Torres Chelsea haven't spend as much in realtive to when Roman came in...ok its still a fair amount!

Ironic some of the players that have been accused of being past it did the business.

Until FFP came in that was true.

I think its ironic that Chelsea finally won the CL with a patched up team and a stand in manager! All the money in the world didn't actually work....

It is pretty ironic when you put it like that, the manager sure seems to have got them working together though since he came in, fair play to him.

I don't get why we have to be shown the owner on camera every couple of minutes. It's the achievement of the team and manager that counts. When we win something, all eyes on Fergie or the players. It doesn't cut to a shot of one of the visually unfortunate Glazer brothers.

RA should be shown regularly by virtue of what is usually sitting next to him!

If you see a shot of RA and your eyes immediately focus on his son rather than whats normally sitting on t'other side then i have no comment to make!

I actually agree with this part.

Over the years Abramovich has wasted tens and tens of millions on players the club didn't need and did next to nothing in making the team any better [30 million on a shot Sheva for starters] and wasted shedloads more hiring and firing managers left right and centre.
I'd have prefered they continued to spend sensibly in buling the team up like they were doing until Jose came in. The likes of Gudjohnson, Joe Cole, Gallas, Cech, Robben etc, were all brilliant signing who didn't cost much but helped turn Chelsea from a Cup winning team into title challengers and then winners.
