Susan Boyle failed to re-enter the UK Charts

After her huge comeback on BGT last week and with over 12 million people watching, her albums failed to make the top 100

All other performers albums charted, apart from SuBo. This is huge drop for her.

I wouldn't say that. You'll See was on the first album which I imagine most of her target audience own anyway.

Must confess I'm surprised, the only logical explanation I can think of is that her target audience typically wouldn't buy her album online from places like iTunes, and it's been so long since that album was released the shops no longer stock it.

EDIT: Unless it's price has slipped to below what is allowed for the albums chart, in which case it will chart in the 'budget' chart.

OMG what a failure, she'll be dropped now.

Her third album went straight in at #1 back in November, though her sales have slipped from one album to the next both times (not too unusual, especially from first to second album!) - but the fact still stands, she still makes Cowell a LOT of money.

Edit: I've just had a thought, this suggests she can only sell around Christmas. Perhaps most of the albums she sells are unwanted Christmas presents people mistakenly think their Mum would like?

I have checked the price for the CD's on most online stores and they are all above the price that will take the album into the normal chart, not the budget chart. But 12 million people and it only takes about 1K to make it into the top 100.
Even with all the hype round her musical, TV/Radio/Press the cd sales have not come in.

Well, it is Cowell's business model with these competitions, Christmas is coming and you have to buy your parents something, so why not Subo's album. It's never a problem to do well with the first Christmas when the memories of the TV shows are fresh. It's the longevity Cowell's children have problem with. Also this machine keeps churning out new names every year, if they manage anything beyond one year, it's a big success anyway.

It was brought out in November last year. I hardly think it'll still be in the charts now.

Although I'm not a fan, I do like the lady and I think her story is amazing.

Having said that, looking on Wikipedia, the sales for her albums have deteriorated really badly.

Her 1st album sold 10 million worldwide, 1.8 million in the UK and 3.1 million in the US
Her 2nd album sold 6.5 million worldwide, 583,000 in the UK and 3 million in the US
Her 3rd album sold 1.5 million worldwide, 100,000 in the UK and 600,000 in the US

She lost 8.5 million sales from her first to third albums!
Now those figures are quite worrying, I hope it gets better with her 4th album!

The only way is down for her IMO.

Considering the song she sang was from her first album and not promoting any new material, why would you expect her to re-enter the charts?

Susan has sold enough. I don't think either she or Cowell will be losing any sleep.

If you have noticed over the last two years, when artists do big live TV shows like BGT/XF their albums come back into the charts and you will see in a few weeks time with the concerts for the Jubilee.

But to be fair album sales have been dropping year on year(apart from Adele of course)

She is still selling a lot so making a profit for the label so she won't be dropped any time soon

It had sold 108,527 in the week ending 21st November 2011 where it was number six in the album charts, so that's inaccurate.

EDIT: It sold 313,200 in 2011 alone. http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index...owtopic=140270

Without the massive advertising campaign, masquerading as a weekly ITV show designed to promote charvs and those without competence, why on earth would anyone expect a mere karaoke singer to sell any records, let alone enter the charts ?

Because karaoke singers have been selling albums after performances on these types of shows for years

The SuBo naysayers always amuse me. At first they moaned that her first album wouldn't sell in big numbers. Then they said her second album wouldn't sell at all because the hype was over. Now they say that the third album is not selling when most artists would kill for 1 million plus worldwide sales. She's doing just fine and I expect a sharp rise in sales again when the movie comes out.
