Phillip Phillips 'needs kidney surgery immediately'

I highly doubt Philip will withdraw now, but if he has to what will they do? Bring Joshua back?

Either way, I hope he's ok.

No, not Joshua, I'd rather they cancelled the whole show or just made Jessica the winner than brought back the most over-rated contestant of all time!

Anyway, it sounds like Phillip will be competing in the final. Not sure how wise that is in terms of his health but i'm sure he wouldn't be allowed to do it if it was a matter of life or death.

I read last year that Lauren was apparently really ill heading into the final, so they had Haley on standby in case Lauren had to pull out. If that was true, I think it's safe to assume Joshua will be on standby.

I'm pretty sure if Phillip performs though, this puts the rubber stamp on his already highly likely win.

I was wondering why he was singing like that.

It’s the daily mail, I think it should be taken with a generous pinch of salt to say the least!

He's had one operation already earlier on in the live shows but I doubt it's as bad as they're making out.

The cynic in me sees what a great time to stop the show as more people will be watching ESC on Thursday evening which starts at 8pm, which is same time as AI starts. Stops the show until say Friday. But if he's really ill then he should get that sorted for if he lets things slide, he might end up with no career at all.

Don't think bringing back Joshua would work, and sure he wouldn't want to. Sensible thing would be to stop the final shows until Phillip gets his op and recuperates. Even if he wins, people will still say/think he got the sympathy vote, so that newspaper article isn't doing him any favours.

Sympathy Vote!!! Not really. Like Scottie, its the 'cute' vote gained from the auditions that has carried him through to a highly likely win.

Idol aired on Tuesday and Wednesday this week. And I don't think they'd be that worried about Eurovision in America. It would get viewers, but nowhere near enough to worry Idol bosses.

And so not based on talent then?!?

I think it is just excuses because the judges two favourites didn't win. And must say Hollie was fantastic as she was on par with an idol winner whereas Joshua was rubbish as always and the idol winner not very impressive either considering she was supposed to win a SINGING competition and did not even SING a word during the duet. Hollie should've been there against Phillip in the final.

Phillip won and rightfully so. If a female should have won then Hollie was the only choice, best vocalist, who was voted out unjustly.

Phillip won on merit but he also gets my admiration for carrying on with the competition in spite of health problems.

I preferred him to Jessica, Joshua and Holly because these three seemed to be trying too hard and that made them less comfortable to watch and listen to.

Well i only knew of a hospital trip at the start of the show, top 13 i think it was? but nothing else. So glad he didn't play on it for sympathy unlike Jessica "only 16, worked hard all my life, my dad is getting deported so i am singing a song to him, blub blub sympathy". Does anyone know if it was the health issue that was the reason why he couldn't sing at the end and went over to his family?

I disagree about Holly, she was so good and didn't get enough credit for what she did on the show. Her duet with Jordin Sparks was like two idol winners duetting on a results show. It showed that she should've been the one against Phillip in the final. Oh and in the group performances did anyone else notice how good the guys ones were until Joshua started shouting? I laughed when he screeched in. Colton in particular was very good and has a far superior voice to Joshua. But wait, Jermaine was not invited back? The girls group performances had Erika being standout along with Elise (i don't rate her much be she did stand out) i guess Holly didn't get much to sing in them because she got to duet with Jordin.

Anyway with the top 2 as it became i am glad Phillip won.

OK I take back what I said concerning Holly.

Anyway she probably would have been in the final if the judges hadn't voted to save Jessica from the chop when she was in the bottom 2.

Shocked to hear how bad Phillip's problems actually were. Eight surgeries since the Idol process started apparently!
