The Billboard Music Awards 2012
Andy Joannou
20-05-2012
Quote:
“Top Artist - Adele, Lady GaGa, Lil Wayne, Katy Perry, Rihanna
Top Male Artist - Justin Bieber, Chris Brown, Drake, Lil Wayne, Bruno Mars
Top Female Artist - Adele, Lady GaGa, Nicki Minaj, Katy Perry, Rihanna

See more nominations here: http://dspy.me/HXzqRa”

Will anybody be watching the awards tonight? My spidey senses are telling me Adele will sweep the board, again, but will be watching anyway!

Well Adele will of course sweep the board because unless I'm mistaken aren't these awards related to sales?

I bet it was Lady Gaga fans who trended that lol.

Pink fans are usually cool and relaxed about this sort of stuff.

Nice try

Gaga stans were probably busy watching her on the Simpsons.

what exactly is the point of these awards?

awards for sales are the sales themselves, it doesn't need further acknowledgement.

An awards ceremony too far.

Agreed, they are a bit of a joke. Adele got it right imo by not showing up. Apparently there was not one mention of her during the televised event, even though she won 12 (2nd biggest one night haul by a female), lol. To be fair I bet they were gutted when she declined the invite. Still childish behaviour all the same.

No. It's like the Brits but by the official recording industry chart compiler. And it's big promo. It has a purpose. ENTERTAINMENT.

Just seen the list of winners. When I saw that LMFAO won best group I just had to shake my head.

Even though Chris Brown is nowhere near the best male r&b act out right now I can understand why he won due to his popularity, but LMFAO? Really?

Apart from the grammys, brits, Ivor nevellor's and the VMA's, most music award shows are incredibly pointless.

I am sure when a young girl is singing in front of her mirror wanting to be the next Adele, it's likely she will dream of winning a Grammy, not a billboard music award or a teen choice award.

I'm sure you are 100% correct there.

These join the AMAs in the irrelevance stakes tbh. Don't think I even knew they existed until last year (thanks to Beyonce's performance). Billboard may as well just publish an annual list online of biggest single/album/whatever and save a buck.

It matters not. That little girl could get a #1 single after performing on that show

Katy's performance is just a... ugh... it was like she wanted to do it but was far too scared.
