Low cost tablet for BBC iPLAYER ?
..I've just returned a Zenithink ZT280 C91 tablet as it won't play BBC iPLAYER or that of any other British TV broadcasting companies (ITV, CH4. Ch5 ect) that need Flash...
Although it's got the latest Android 4.0.3 (ICS) and the latest Adobe Flash - it just won't play ..... I've loaded Flash 10.2 and that doesn't work. I've tried other suggested browsers - no go... Can anyone on here recomend a low cost 10 inch tablet in the £125 -£150-00 price range that DEFINITELY will play BBC iPLAYER correctly... Not worried about Android 4 ICS OS - just a good old reliable tablet ... |

..thanks for quick reply BUT...read all the 'bumf'..... It still seems to have problems with BBC and flash and you have to apply a 'workaround' by changing browse screen type ! Also not full access to 'market' - why ? Why all this problem with OS's and Flash ect.....? Is it down to copyright with all these low cost tablets ?? |

A touch over budget, but the Blackberry Playbook is a very nice device at £169 in Currys and has the iplayer pre-loaded

Sorry – I read line higher up where it says it works fine!
Think the main problem is the manufacturer does not give the support that a bigger make like Samsung gives so these sort of things do happen and you sometimes need workarounds. That’s one of the reasons the big name tablets are more expensive. The Marketplace, which is now called Google Play causes problems with these cheaper tablets in two ways. One is that they don’t always come with it – this is because Google needs to approve a device to be used on Google Play and when you can access it the Google Play does not always recognise your tablet as it’s an unusual one. A lot of people with these will put an update on them where the tablet tells Google Play that it is in fact a different Tablet. For instance I have my Ainol Elf setup as a Galaxy SII phone so that I can download more apps. |

..seems like everyone's on the fiddle..trying to falsify a tablet just to do what it should do...
All this is putting me off of buying one... If you want a straightforward one that is guaranteed to work you are much better off with something like a Galaxy Tab. |

I take it that this 10 inch one I linked you to yesterday won't do what you want it to then?
http://www.amazon.co.uk/NATPC-M013RT...A3FBRFJEH1TPJ2 My 7 inch version works with iPlayer with no problem at all and it has no problems with google play that I have seen so far either

ICS hacked versions are the problem am sure.
All of these budget ones probably got useless hacked versions not even compiled correctly for the device. I know many of the 7" ones got sales when it was obvious that there was going to be problems with them. ICS is no doubt still best avoided for now on budget tablets. |

Yep. It seems very similar doesn't it. Not bad for £155 though. You get what you pay for I suppose.

From originator of this thread.....to all those reading this thread...
I'm buying a low cost tablet for my old Dad as a present.... I've personally got a Toshiba AT100 (Thrive) ... It cost me an arm and a leg - it's only got Android 3.1 and Flash 10.2... BUT.. It works 100% - no problems with ANYTHING... The screen is also great - good / bright - wide viewing angles ect. and higher res than these lower cost tablets.... However I'm not going to spend a whole lot just for my good old Dad to check his email once a day and occasionaly have a browse for 10 minutes..... BUT - I want it be able to play BBC iPLAYER and other UK TV stuff... I returned the Zenethink ZT 280 c91 - because it couldn't - No matter what I tried.... I don't want to order another and have to go through that all again.... Why don't these b~+*^£y things do what they say they are supposed to do - to me it seems like a bit of a rip off and false advertising by both Chinese producers and the UK importers .... If a product sold in the UK can't play UK TV stuff from our main media broadcasters - then that's not good.... OMBUDSMAN - here we come

I guess there are always going to be less than honest people out there.
Before I bought mine I contacted the seller and they replied within an hour answering all of my queries, I made sure they were in the UK so no expensive costs returning the item if I didnt like it, and I read lots and lots of reviews, both of the product and the seller feedback. After all that I jumped in, and all I can say is I'm very very pleased with my tablet, my daughter is about to order one, and my husband is making noises about getting one too. Maybe I have been very lucky, I don't know, but that has been my experience. |

Hi, well it being amazon they dont give the actual email out, if you sign into your amazon account then click on the link of the tablet I posted for you, you will see the sellers name next to the picture of the product under the price (wendy lou) If you click on that name and then on *detailed seller information* you will see a link for wendy lou customer service over on the right next to the seller feedback. Click on that and you can email her via amazon, just select product details as your subject.
