Nicki Minaj - Pound The Alarm
The new UK single - it's officially releasing on July 9th, but will start charting (again) as soon as it hits radio/TV.
I'm glad the UK is skipping Right By My Side and Beez in the Trap, because aside from okay TV play due to all the new Nicki-themed shows the music channels are programming, I can't see either of them selling well as singles, or shifting more copies of the album. Great choice
She will get a bit hit out of this. There was anticipation for this song before the album even came out and leaked. But shame they are skipping her Urban tracks |

Pound The Alarm is a great choice. Can't wait to see the video. I hope she releases Va Va Voom at one point because it's the strongest track on PR:RR imo.

All her UK singles from this album will be dance/pop tracks I bet. That's all the UK cares about at the moment. It's very annoying, but it's the right thing for her to do as none of her urban stuff will do well.

It's a great track but does anybody else think it sounds a bit too similar to Starships? I think it should definitely be a single but not straight after Starships.
I would have released Va Va Voom in between and maybe even something a little more varied like Marlyn Monroe before Pound the Alarm! |

The song sounds EXACTLY the same as Starships.
It's a very poor single choice. It won't go to #1 like everybody thinks it will. I agree Va Va Voom is much better, and less generic. And I think Right By My Side would've done well here. We're moving away from dance music now. Somebody That I Used to Know has just passed 1 million sales. Pound the Alarm would've been massive in 2007. Not now. Probably an average-sized #3 hit. Pound the Alarm also sounds the same as Live My Life by Far East Movement/Justin Bieber. |

I think I'm the only person who doesn't really like this song
I love Beez In The Trap, but I agree it wouldn't do well in the UK since the UK is very much favouring generic dance tracks so far.Imo, I'd have hoped for something like Young Forever or even Marilyn Monroe. Super Bass > Starships > Pound The Alarm - It's just too much dance/pop from Nicki for my liking |

I think Pound The Alarm may be Nicki's Where Have You Been: initial stand out track, but is obviously the heavier 2.0 of the lead single (Starships/We Found Love) which people think will inevitably smash...but doesn't.
Although, I'm sure it'll be a hit. Summer is a good time to release it. |

Whip It would have better longevity but not a bad choice of single at all.

whip it is better - she doesn't need to release beez in the trap, it wouldn't chart well and it's already on music channels and in clubs. glad she's not doing right by my side either that song is a bore and it's only being released cos of chris brown.

Right By My Side should definitely have been next to vary out her sounds as all her dance songs sound similar to say the least (except BS maybe). Beez In The Trap is just a waste of a good beat just lazily listing places in a dull way and poor rapping ft a bad rapper lol.

Gutted she isn't releasing any of her urban or hip hop tracks, that's the only side of her I like

I love Beez In The Trap, but I agree it wouldn't do well in the UK since the UK is very much favouring generic dance tracks so far.
