Had this box since December but I'm close to binning it.
Often I set a timer to record from NHK World but obviously this records encrypted. So as the show is repeated that day I later reboot the box into non freesat mode and attempt to do a manual record of the show. Quite often (the vast majority of the time) instead of going into record it just shows a "Live" progress bar across the bottom of the screen and despite a few attempts, records nothing, just coming up with this "Live" bar each time.
I started to suspect that it might be objecting to the fact I have already recorded a program of the same name earlier that day so I go into file manager and rename the program. Using this technique I have managed to get it to record once or twice but tonight it let me down again. I'm now thinking it has nothing to do with the name of the previous record.
I'm starting to suspect that maybe I need to start the manual record before the show actually starts, maybe the box is trying to stop me recording an HD show but to be honest as I say I'm close to binning the box as I don't even think I dare sell it because of this and a few other 'issues' it has such as giving an error a few minutes of playing back a program if I fast forward at all and then returning an empty media library. I dare not attempt to pause a live program either as that usually results in the same error (something like "The Channel is not available or is encrypted"). These kind of errors are something I'd expect from a bargain basement recorder sold about 5 years ago, not a £200 state of the art box that gets good reviews!
Anyhow anyone know what I'm doing wrong or can anyone suggest a better box? I bought it because of the good reports from users but it's literally driving me insane.
I have the latest official firmware and I'm running on a single LNB.

Somethings seriously wrong, try the following. If it fails to work get it replaced under warranty.

Check the following

First question do you have the required coax loop cable from tuner 1 out to tuner 2 in ? If not install it, if it's there or not do a factory reset.

Once back up and running in freesat mode, goto BBC1-HD and start an instant recording, goto BBC-HD and start a second. Go to 126 CH4-HD and try pausing it live, If you can view it and pause it the tuners are working fine. (the instant record button is the small red one next to the square stop recording button).


Now rescan your non-freesat channels.

You should now be in non-freesat mode, reboot the box

Tune to the channel you want to record and press the red record button, Press the same button again to see how long the box will record for. (you can extend the recording time if you wish). This should give a encryption free recording.

You can't do any of this if the box is already recording something else in Freesat mode.

There is no other Freesat box capable of using two tuners with a single lnb afaik.
