Lana Del Rey - Never Let Me Go
Seriously, how can anyone write a song this good then not even release it?
There are many others as well knocking about on you tube. Maybe Born To Die should have been a double album? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_8Rd69u2wZs |

Almost 4 months since I first heard this song and I still never get tired of listening to it. No idea why it didn't make it onto Born To Die but it would be great if it made it onto the re-release. New link as the one above no longer available.
Send me to the stars, Tell me when I get there kid, I can be your Nancy, You can be my Sid, Get into some trouble like our parents did, Hey, they'll never know, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ryBizxEO924 |

I just heard this song last night - I love it. I'm surprised it didn't make Born To Die when it seems like it would fit in with the the album. It kind of reminds me of a more subtle, sane and simplistic version of 'Of To The Races'
I really hope it's on the re-release. My friend hates Lana, but loved this song |

Lana seems to be hindering herself if you ask me. She seems to be too much of a perfectionist but in the process is overlooking songs which need proper releases. I cannot believe Damn You is just a demo. It would push her firmly into the mainstream if she were to release it.

She has so many unreleased songs it's getting silly - I have about 18 pre Born To Die songs I've made a new debut called "Miss America"....and Born To Die with all the leaked tracks is at about 33 songs long now

Well c'mon she can only put so many songs on a album at once guys and gals! I mean if she subbed some of the tracks mentioned above for existing Born to Die tracks you'd all be complaining why she hadn't put National Anthem, or Million Dollar Man or Without You or Lolita or Diet Mountain Dew or any other track you care to mention on the album. I think its a very nice problem to have if you are a song writer!
But hey this topic crops up many times, and with good reason: the unreleased list of Lana tracks is indeed stunning. Hell you might as well chuck the whole Lizzy Grant album in there too cause that never got a full release and her other previous identity May Jailer with the Sirens album. Its just a stunning cannon of work that puts everybody else around at the moment to shame. It really dumbfounds me when people sneer at her abilities as a song writer, they clearly don't have a clue about her at all. Re: The unreleased songs though I seriously think Lana would be a very clever girl if she just saves the best ones for future albums and mixes them in with new songs as they come along. It will take the pressure off doing a follow up record and mean that her songwriting can just flow and she can just keep wowing us. How many times have you seen big name acts cock up in the past releasing all there best stuff in one big splurge and then not having anything for the rainy day when they are suffering from writers block? And lets face it it that writers block usually happens cause they've backed themselves into a corner where they start panicking thinking how the hell are they gonna top what they did last time!??!?! With Lana she can just think "Ok time to bring these ones out and ooo I haven't done something like this before, lets write it!" Good place to be if you ask me. My only fear is that many of Lana's unreleased songs, even the really great ones may remain on the web only and never get officially released. Which would be a great shame. |
