Are you getting Olympic Fever yet?

With the Olympics now just 65 days away are you getting 'a fever' worked up with sheer excitement and looking forward to seeing how many badges we come away with?

Or do you think it's a complete waste of money, won't benefit the entire country, and like Greece will be left with some very large derelict buildings?

I don't have an excited feeling, however I tend to become excited a few days before a special event( i was up early for the royal weeding).
I'm a bit annoyed because casualty won't be on for 9 weeks due to the olympics.

I was pretty exciting a while back when I got tickets (which I'm still waiting for nearly 9months later) but since the flame arrived I'm starting to become very anti-Olympics. Just the coverage already is starting to do my head in.

Maybe when my tickets come, I'll be hyped again but at the moment the whole "omg I can't wait for the Olympics" feeling has gone out the window. If I could get away with flogging my tickets on eBay, I would long as this media circus is rammed down my telly everyday

Really 9 weeks? Just as well you have mentioned it otherwise I would have thought my daughter had deleted it all off the planner again.

Plain Button badges plus three cans of aerosol paint, Gold, Silver and Bronze is all we need.

We are in a recession!

Yeah I am Watched via a live stream, my friend run with the torch past my old college today which really got me in the mood for it. I'm not a big sports person (bar rugby) but it's a massive occasion. Chances are I'll never live (dispite only being 21!) to see another Olympics in the UK so I appretiate this is a big deal!

I just feel it's a shame the UK/England didn't get the footy world cup. We have the Olympics, Rugby World Cup 2015 and numerous other sporting events this decade, would have been good to have the full set

No. The company I work for were one of the first to sponsor the event...We have had it rammed down our mush every day since and it has become extremely tiresome.

I'm not interested in the Olympics. Half the people I work with seem to be planning on coming in late towards the end of the week to watch the Olympic flame pass through our town. Perhaps I'll feel more festive after that? More likely I'll just be annoyed at the traffic jams. Still, at least the weather is nice.

All of this and Eurovision, there'll be nothing on TV or forums until October at this rate, or March if we win them. I just hope Kate Middleton doesn't get pregnant too!

PS: It should be in the sub-forum.

So far the majority of people aren't even interested in it, and many don't believe it will benefit the entire country either.

It cost a few quid to stick up the Milennium Dome tent which became a financial embarrassment standing empty once all the fuss was over until some Yankee billionaire got in with o2. But the Olympics have created many vast covered arena buildings, tracks and a pool at God knows how much cost.

Are they going to end up as some kind of morbid tourist curiosity for folk to wander round crumbly old buildings which have fallen into a state of dis-repair. Quite possibly that's also the only way I can see most British ever getting inside the buildings, by which time the Games will be over and long forgotten.

I don't particularly see a problem with urban exploring in derelict buildings, not that I'd want there to be even more than there are now. Other than that I agree 100%, same goes for Royal Family events

Only time will tell BG

Up to this point the Games are a success with the selling ability, demand outstripped supply which in itself is a good thing.

We, at this point, can embrace it, or trounce it............trouncers are usually predominant in an argument hence why I never trust polls and such but it is free speech.

I cannot wait

I'm not really 'wooo the games!' but people who faux non-interest are starting to piss me off.

New rule:

If you go out of your way to let everyone know how much you really don't care about the Olympics, you're going to look as if you actually do.

I've never seen so many people be so passionate about telling people how much they don't care about something.

They protest too much for their protestations to be genuine.

I wasn't that excited about them but the torch coming to my hometown tomorrow has got me more interested.

I'll probably watch a few of the big events or the ones that we might win a medal in.
