The Gadget Show on Channel 5. When they announce the competition they spend at least 10 minutes reading out every single prize (over 200 of them). This coupled with the adverts delivers a show of around 35 minutes packed into one hour.

And Jason's a massive knob.

Come Dine with Me and Three/Four in a Bed. Endless identical recaps or snippets of what is coming up - which inevitably bear no resemblance to what actually takes place. On CDWM they used to show far more of the actual cooking, including buying the ingredients, now it's just silly games and padding.

Great British Menu is terrible for padding. I've started recording it and fast forwarding over the fluffy fillers.

i would watch pointless if it was half an hour but its not the sort of show id want to record so i could fast forward it.
I agree, far too much waffle from Alexander. I'm sure there wasn't as much when it was in was BBC 2.

Mitchell and Webb had it spot on in the Gift Shop Sketch: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7MFtl2XXnUc
Every time I watch The Apprentice and Four In A Bed I think 'previously on the Gift Shop Sketch'!

One of the most padded has to be CSI. 47 out of the 60 mins are scenes of someone peering at a test tube, peering through a microscope, peering at gunshot residue, peering up their bumhole.

I know they're investigating a crime scene but endless scenes of them 'investigating' that don't really add anything to the story.....

I hate CSI.

Gameshows have got to be the most annoying for this. DOND obviously takes the crown but I've never like that anyway.

Pointless and Million Pound Drop are shows that I liked at the beginning but have got so annoyed at the padding that I've now stopped watching them altogether. The Chase has got it right. Quit the waffling and get on with the questions!

OMG yes This has to take the prize...

FFS How long does it take to announce a few names of those going through to the next week... A mere couple of mins...

Maybe the BEEB spin it out so we think we've gotten our money's worth... Seems particularly pointless seeing as we've rumbled their feeble attempts to make us think it was transmitted live on Sunday... pathetic... insulting the audience much

I watched one episode of Strictly Come Dancing once. There was so much padding that I never ever watched it again!

Quiz shows seem to be the worst offenders. I honestly don't care about the contestants life stories, or all that stuff. I just want the questions. Eggheads is not so bad as some of the others, but it amuses me how when someone is asked a question, even if they obviously know the answer, instead of just saying, "It's A (for example," they have to go all around the Wrekin, saying, "well, I know it's not B, because (insert reason), and I know it's not C because (insert another reason)." I'm sure they must be told to do that, because everyone answers that way.

Oh, absolutely.

I honestly think he's the most annoying presenter on TV. well, him and Piers Morgan. I can no longer watch any show with either of them in.

pointless has been ruined since it moved to beeb1, i watched it the other day for the first time in ages and couldn't believe how bad it was.
On the whole I think it's improved with the new format. They've got rid of the "guessing round" they used to have which ruined the whole show and the 5 questions/pictures etc for the final decider is good.

The only things I'd change would be first to 3 for the decider and I wouldn't give the option of 5 choices at the end as they usually go for "celebrity/entertainment questions so we don't see some of the more interesting ones.

WWTBAM. Definitely. I absolutely bloody hate, especially the "Celebrity" versions, when CT asks one question, then sits back and says "So, Mr or Miss Celebrity, please feel free now to talk about yourself and your nominated charity for the next ten minutes". GET ON WITH THE FLAMIN' QUIZ. Who wants to listen to these morons droning on about themselves?? It's turning into the Chris Tarrent chat show.

The National Lottery - We don't need Nick Knowles and his amazing lists of things, or Dale Winton and musical chairs.

Just give us the numbers

I don't tend to watch quiz shows these days for the reasons pointed out in this thread. Most of them have turned from quiz in to game shows.

Another reason to bring back 15 to 1

For me, the amount of ad breaks on X Factor and DOI - plus the length of the X Factor results show - sometimes with a group performance (of all the contestants) and two guest artists.

A while back there was a show called Ben Fogle's Extreme Dreams which was on five nights a week. I don't think I've ever seen a 30 minute show contain so many "recaps" of previous events or so many "still to comes" and previews of the next days show to the extent I'm not sure some days there was more than ten minutes original material. I guess it was made that way deliberately for repeat showings on satellite TV etc.

There's a plethora of documentary type shows these days with "recaps", "still to come" and "what happened before and after the break". All based presumably on the assumption that the average viewer has the attention span of a gnat.

Dancing on Ice. The VTs (what on earth does that mean? i see the term used on here a lot) seem to fill half the show.

Brilliant! Had me laughing.

On 'Escape to the Country' they look at 2 houses, then it is night time. In the morning there is the obligatory recap of the day before.

I tape rather a lot of things now so I can FF these 'recaps'.

Compared to the first series, it is still worse. Less contestants, less rounds, less questions.
