I have to agree with you, their suggested solution is slap-dash to say the least. If there is a problem then just acknowledge the problem, apologise and fix it. Don't put out a "cowboy" workaround.
BTW, what they suggest is if you experience a program in which the end is cut off, that you then selelct the next scheduled program and watch that to see if the cut off section is at the beginning of that program.
eg: If Eastenders shown at 8pm on 6th June has had the end cut off, then watch the beginning of the next show, DIY SOS at 9pm to see if the missing section is shown before DIY SOS begins (if that makes sense!).
I don't use iPlayer all that much and have only experienced a program where the end cut off once. That said, to show my support I did fire off a compliant to the iPlayer team about this issue. Hope that helps in getting it fixed for you.

WD take little notice of individual posts on the forums, though if you post an issue report in the board linked above they are very good at reading and responding to them. It also gives other members the opportunity to support your issue.
