Could be 5th year a row.

I know, and it will be unfortunately. I really hope I look back at my post on this thread and am pleasantly surprised but I wont be. Such an absolute joke. America are worse than England with their menopausal housewives and uncontrollable teenage girls. 60% of the time England can see a female who is talented and should win over a 'cute' guy, whereas America just dont give a s**t

White Guy With Acoustic Guitar. Although David and Scott weren't textbook, they all fit to the gategory.

Such a shame, I think they need to do something if they want different kind of winner. Ban guitars, or something. Now the competing is just pointless, and boring.

Ban guitars? Deary me Do you just want people who go on stage and sing a song and do nothing? What's wrong with people who play instruments? It's not Phillip's fault if people have voted to keep him in the competition each week over other contestants.

I'm happy he won. I had him down as the winner right from his first audition, because of his different style. I would have preferred him not to win though, as I've said many times on here, I didn't want him tied down to be the "winner of American Idol" his whole career.

Spoiler
I don't think there's any real doubt that he deserved to win. By quite a distance the best of the season and without a doubt one of the best in Idol history, the originality is fantastic from him, so different to pretty much anybody we've seen in talent show history. It's fantastic to see too, people voting for a guy who is clearly a great artist in a different genre of music to what you normally see in the charts.

The performance night summed it up. Jessica comes out and does her winning song and then makes an excuse of "No, that's not me..."...whereas Phillip, from day one, was himself every single time. No matter what the producers said, he did what he wanted to do and stayed true to himself. Outstanding, simply outstanding.

Just saw the result on Ceefax - yes we still have Ceefax in Kent. All i can say is good for the USA: Jessica will probably have a decent career anyway, but when more Pop Idol voters chose Will over Gareth and more American Idol viewers Phillip over Jessica, the audience is listening well to the contestants.

The American Idol boards are all about how its the "teeny vote" who won this for Phillip. Whilst I'm sure he did garner some of his votes from that demographic I don't believe his talent would have gone unappreciated by everyone else.

I am an older lady and love his voice and his style and had him down as my winner from the very beginning.

He is clearly a very talented musician who knows exactly what he wants and is happy and willing to take a stand and be true to himself.

Hope this is the start of a long and successful career in the music industry.

Totally agree with you, especially the BIB.

My favourite was Joshua so hope he gets a decent career out of it - with a total vote of around 90 million last week he came third so must have had about 25 million at least

The top four should do well I think

White Girls with Asian Guys according to Urban Dictionary.

I've seen the acronym WGWG (White Guy With Guitar) a lot in relation to AI winners but WGWAG is a new one to me.

Yeah, WGWG should be the term.
