Keynoir.com, I think.
Sounded like that (although I heard it as quinoa, which is presumably some weird kind of play on words) - but on their web site they have a deal for 50% off karaoke! Hardly the most exclusive, upmarket product, is it?

It doesn't look very good either, very basic. Why noir? The site is blazing white! I usually associate high quality 'elitist' websites with dark themes and colours not white...

Nothing wrong with white, at least the site is easy to read, which many sites with inverted colourschemes can fall down on.

Dont know if this would have been covered, but could one of the reasons for not taking up certain offers be that they may be on another discount site?.

But I do find it strange that Sugar choose a site that seems rather small.

That site looks really poor.

On a separate but related note, have a look at the website for Gabrielle's new agency - webethree.co.uk. Now that's an attractive looking website. (And no, I'm not working on commission for her, although I am doing a small piece of work on the side for one of the other candidates ...)

Is it a work in progress? Every time I click on something I just get a black page with a big white cursor, but no actual content.

Do you have Flash enabled? It works fine for me.

Yes, using whatever is the latest official release of Flash. Using Safari 5.1.7 and Mac OS X 10.7.4 so all up-to-date versions.

There's a massive great scroll bar on the right that allows you to scroll down to .... nothing.

Actually I wonder if that was what was causing the black pages when I first tried the site. I can find some content but it's not always where I expect it to be!

Keynoir is marketed as a luxury deals website and they said no to the fish pedicures on last night's show because "everyone was offering them". Why then, when I went on the website last night, did they have a 12 month subscription for Time magazine? Groupon regularly offer the same deal.

It works for me and I agree that it is eye-catching. However, it's not particularly easy to navigate and the posters above show that the site doesn't work for many people (including those with iPads whom you might expect to be a large part of the target audience). For those reasons it is not a good website design. In fact, although it is striking and pretty it is a candidate for the Daily Sucker (http://www.webpagesthatsuck.com/dailysucker). Interestingly, there seem to be quite a few excellent graphic designers who produce poor websites.

I think a lot of graphic designers fall down on website design because they go for the stuff that looks flashy but ends up just being annoying. For me, Gabi's pages each take about 5 seconds to load and the back button doesn't work.

Interesting. I had no problem at all with either access or speed, but then I run a pretty high-powered PC and, of course, any web designer should take into account that not everyone has a top-spec PC, or the latest version of Flash, or the million and one other whizzy things that a developer's system will have ...

I looks good but it's irritating to use. It breaks the back button for a start which always annoys me, and the page scrolls down to nothing.

I really hate flash based websites, style over substance IMO. I suppose if you're trying to sell design you have to make it look flashy, but if I was shopping for a graphic designer and I stumbled on Gabrielle's site I would never want them to work for me.

Flipping heck - quite a response from people! Obviously my cursory look at it at 2:00 last night didn't do justice to the flaws others have found. Maybe it's not so great after all ...
