Personally, I've enjoyed this series a lot more than most because I find the backstabbing, lying, bullying and generally behaving like pricks of a lot of contestants in the history of this show tiring after a while. Just to situate, the only candidates I took a liking to in Season 4 are Simon and Lucinda (and Raef, to a degree).....

I guess what works for me is that the people left are people I can identify with, to a certain extent (well, except for Adam but wile I am not a fan and I disagree with a lot of what he's said, he seems a nice enough bloke). But I am also aware that they don't make the tv a lot of people want to see when they tune in that kind of show, so while I don't share the opinion of a lot of people on this thread, I am not surprised and I can see where they are coming from

My personal preference goes to Tom - sure he's had a weaker last couple of weeks but he's already proven he can be really good, is not adverse to taking risk (but those were risks that always made sense and were never gratuitous) which is an important quality in an entrepreneur, and has defended himself with some integrity in the BR, something I find commandable

However, I've believed from about week 5-6 that Nick was going to win and I still do: he has an impressive record so far, made very few mistakes (at least that we've seen), comes across as a decent human being (always a plus) and I think that the fact that he has already created business ventures pretty much from scratch (unlike Tom who came into an already established business) and his IT background give him the edge

Jade is the dark horse of the competition for me: I had almost discarded her after her disastrous turn as PM in week 7, but she pulled a blinder yesterday where she appears to have won the task almost single-handedly - so close to the final, that could definitely help her in the last few stages

I think Ricky is competent, but he's made a few dire mistakes. And quite frankly, people who go on the record saying "Everything that has gone well in this task was down to me, everything that went wrong was down to the other guys. It's terrible!" (in the week 3 condiment task) never rate high in my book. On the plus side though, he did made valid remarks in the boardroom in the last two weeks

And Adam....well, is Adam Unless he's hidden his game all along and has an incredible business plan, I don't see how he could possibly win this

Where the faint zephyr of approval on this board for Tom comes from I have no idea - the man's a bloody android, FFS. I don't DISlike him; that would be like saying you dislike thin air, but man alive is he boring to watch.

And that is why, as sexist as it may sound, I point to the lack of especially attractive female contestants as one of the problems with this show, given that there is very little else to get excited about. Katie was as boring a contestant as all the others bar Bilyana (also of above the norm attractiveness) and Jane, but at least she was what I think would be generally considered as "hot". She doesn't do much for me, but I can accept that she would for many and that's my point. It wouldn't matter if the contestants were good TV, but they're not. In fact a bit of a spark, or a certain something that this lot most definitely lack, can make someone average seem attractive in more ways than one anyway.

I'm not saying anyone is pig-ugly, but like their personalities, they're just "meh". I can never judge what women find attractive, but I suspect the same is true for the male contestants.

Doesn't help that I've hardly agreed with any of the firings. I mean how are you supposed to root for anyone when you feel like things have been arse-backwards since the start.
Not to mention the fact that the show knows that what gets the viewers talking isn't the candidates looking competent or good, it's looking like idiots.

But still, Nick for the win.

I don't DISlike them as people, but that's not the point. They might all be likeable, or nice, or kind to small children and animals, but my word are they as dull as f*** on television. I like my friends, but I can't think of any I'd want to watch on primetime TV once the novelty of actually seeing them there in the first place wore off.

The fact that ratings are down 11% on this time last year speaks volumes.

The candidates NEED to be engaging, and these ones just aren't.

I didn't really rate the series 6 finalists, (Liz was totally robbed) but they had Baggs to be a sort of anti-hero, and Stella and Joanna to root for.

I only really invested any emotion in loving Gabrielle and hating Stephen, and with them both going last week I now find myself not caring who wins. They're all 'okay-ish'.
