I don't think it's fair to say she got lucky. She fought for the best deals that won them the task and didn't totally lack direction like the other team- however, the execution of it was pretty bad.

I think Tom needs to stop being the 'leader' of subunits though- he just isnt great at creating a natural rappor with people.

I think Marcus Wareing (the chef) felt sorry for them. That was the reason of why they got the deal.

Yóu're right that she did make a good deal on the spa thing and wasn't discouraged when they turned down her first offer.

Definitely some irrational bias against Jade here. It seems like people are determined to hate her.

Yeah, I can understand why people might say she did a bad job in previous episodes but on this one she sealed the deal that won them the task. I think she was possibly the best candidate out of all of them tonight, except Ricky who almost single-handedly won for his team.

Can anyone remember a more incompetant woman in the final five (from past series)

Helene the coffee maker comes to mind, but not much else.

Also keep in mind that Jade has now made it further into the competition then someone like Liz Locke.


P.S. The spa deal was pure luck, even Stephen could have closed that deal with those ladies.

I know. It's really the worst series for candidates left though and I have no interest in any of them winning. Jade did get lucky. She doesn't instil any confidence in me it's all hit and miss whether she does well.

ETA She was lucky with the spa deal. They seemed to indicate no and then suddenly it was yes. I couldn't really see what Jade herself did to achieve this and yes even Stephen could've managed this one.

I'm no fan of Jade and I thought she was incredibly lucky to escape in her previous task as PM, but credit where credit's due: she did well this week. I still don't see her as a finalist, though.

The criticism is justified. If i put myself in Lord Sugar's shoes I dont want someone who is ill prepared and unprofessional as Jade has demonstrated on numerous occasions. Yes she ks getting by but when you are in the real cut throat business arena where deals and contacts arent laid on and set up before hand, you need to be efficient articulate and very astute. Jade does not demonstrate any of those qualities.

There may be some method in her madness but to be honest Someone like Lord sugar has a reputation to uphold and Jade it seems would be too much of a liability.

She did okay on this task. A task where no one really shone.

em.... a couple of weeks ago on The Great British Menu, Marcus Wareing was a judge and scored a Michelin starred chef 2 out of 10 for one of his dishes, the chef in question flounced off. They edited out of the sound of his voice but left in the crashing sound of all the pots and pans being slung around the kitchen by the disappointed and angry chef Sorry to go slightly off topic there but this is just to illustrate Marcus Wareing is not in the business of feeling sorry for people. He obviously liked the deal, if he didn't he wouldn't have come back to the table 5 minutes later. At the same time it was a golden opportunity to big himself up on tele: the incident on The Great British Menu was pure TV gold

How much was not shown last night of Tom and Adam and how much of what Nick did was edited out? No one knows except the producer. That said in my opinion it is unfair to show the slightest criticism to Jade on this occasion - she stayed an hour at the Sanctuary knowing if she could get the 50% deal that would be more or less the task won, it would have taken something really spectacular to get a better deal than that.

I thought it a very interesting point that Ricky (and everyone else presumably?) didn't know how many deals to offer - they obviously left that bit out of the brief, a great test, as LAS said it's always better to go bigger if you're not sure.

Undoubtedly. It's a common feature of the tasks, I think, that the brief gives the candidates just enough information to get them started, but not enough that there isn't ample opportunity for them to trip up horribly. Of course, in a real life situation an agent representing the website would know exactly what sort of numbers were realistic aim for.

I quite liked last night Jade until the final few seconds when Ricky walked in on his own and said Gabby had gone too and she shouted "YES"!. Very mean spirited, especially since Gabby seemed like such a lovely person.

I was very critical of her in week 7 even though I had quite liked her before because she quite clearly made a complete mess of her task, and I wasn't too fond of the stunt she pulled in the BR, but apart from that week, she has, from what we have seen, not made any big mistakes and this week she WON the task - it wasn't luck or winning by default (although Ricky had a point when he said that had there been three of him in his team, they would have won the task - but they didn't). In the spa she fought for it and she knew that was essential she got the deal - the very fact that she was aware of that fact shows that she does indeed have some business acumen

I did find that odd. There hadn't been anything I can think of in the past to suggest that they didn't get on, but maybe they didn't.

Myths and legends again (like the mythical 110% - why not 300000 or several googols of percentages?). You can only split your team into 2 subteams otherwise everyone could go off on their own, fight their own corner, be judged individually and the team with fewer individuals be screwed over unless the others were totally cr@p. Jade could just have legitimately argued that had her subteam been duplicated (not even triplicated ), they'd have had close on five times Sterling's total and at least that'd have been practical (i.e. that the other subteam did as well as hers).

In my post, I was saying that Jade had won the task by merit, as opposed to have won by sheer luck or by default. However, I wanted to nuance this by adding that, although hailed as a landslide victory, Phoenix' winning total was not unbeatable, i.e. if the rest of Sterling (Stephen and Gabby) had performed "like Ricky" (that is performed much better), Phoenix' score wasn't so high (especially with Tom and Adam's subteam drawing a blank) that Sterling couldn't have potentially done better

What's wrong with 110% (although I don't believe someone is really committed unless they promise me they'll give their 200%)?

I believe Jade said at the beginning of this episode that she had actually done this before in her day job. She therefore understood that they needed exclusive deals and that was about it. She was supported by Nick on the negotiations and imo wouldnt have pulled off the win without him.

I dont think she won this task so much as Stephen lost it. Her smug face when she left the boardroom was soooooooooo annoying.
