I have to say I was shocked at how good the sound is on the new iPad. I'd say it was exceptional for a device of its size. I dont have a massive amount of experience with tablets to make solid comparisons, but its way better than any mobile phone I have heard and comparable with a laptop. I'd even say its better than my 21" TV.

Obviously it would be a CRT one if it existed.
The sound on many monitors and TVs are more shockingly bad. |

The curve on the glass that does not help when dropped.
No gorilla glass but you do get to have gorilla like arms after a while carrying. |

Blackberry Playbook is pretty good, not got an Ipad to compare it too but it does me nicely. Saves me having to take my Ipod dock out to the garden.

Of all the tablets I have used the Blackberry Playbook is far and above the best for sound quality, due to the stereo speakers and their positioning. I suspect this may change however when Samsung releases the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 as it places the speaker on the front in a similar manner to the playbook.
I have the new iPad and whilst the sound is very good considering its mono speaker it isn't a patch on the playbook (which is let down by the OS and the screen size/quality). |

Not surprised your Toshiba one has more sound my Toshiba TV does as well...maybe worth looking (listening) to the Samsung Tablets - my wife has a Galaxy Note phone and that is excellent for the size...although a small Tablet will never be perfect with only small speakers. |
