Just wondering what foods people like better than the brand name equivilant. I have 2

ASDA's Caramel is way nicer than Twix I find
LIDL's Jaffa Cakes (Sondey) are miles better than McVittie's

I prefer pretty much any supermarkets own Mayonnaise compared to Helman's.

Also i love Asda's frozen roast potatoes and Yorkshire puddings compared to Aunt Bessie's.

Tesco's tangy brown sauce is nice - on a par with HP I'd say - & about half the price.

Their ketchup isn't a patch on Heinz though.

Yeh, I like LIDL jaffa cakes too. Loads cheaper than McV's as well, which is handy as you know how it is with Jaffa cakes, once you pop you can't stop!

Try Kania ketchup from Lidl. It has the nice sweet/sour taste of Heinz, but with a more rounded/fuller tomato taste.
Even my very brand oriented niece and nephews had to admit that it's the best. They still prefer Heinz though. So my sister-in-law still schlepps Heinz home.
Kids these day hé? If it hasn't a well know brand on it, they won't even look at it.

I think Sainsburys Red Label tea bags are better than the main brands.

Asda value jaffa cakes are as good as Mcvittie in taste, but perhaps slightly thinner - they do only cost 33p though!

M&S jaffa cakes win hands down for me in terms of jaffa cakes, although they are probably the same price

Asda's tomato ketchup and Tesco's Gold coffee are both excellent.

Oh god they are fantastic aren't they? Think I might have to have a little trio to M&S tomorrow to pick some up along with their amazing Eton Mess cheesecake

Hellmann's is just a brand of mayo though. The others aren't imitating it. I buy Hellmanns because it uses free range eggs, which not all others guaranteed the last time I checked.

But I do think most supermarket own brand "hand cooked" crisps are better than Kettle Chips.

I like tesco brand weetabix, they seem not to go as soggy as the proper brand.

I only ever buy own-brand cereal. Tesco Rice Snaps taste just like Rice Krispies and Tesco and Sainsbury's Cheerios-type cereal taste just like the real thing. I also buy own-brand chocolate digestives because they all taste the same to me.

Aldi's "St Etienne" Belgian lager is in a white/gold/red can very reminiscent of the Stella can, but is miles better (imho) than "wife beater"

I find most beers are better than Stella to be fair.

ALDI's Galahad lager is just as good/if not better than Fosters/Carling and you get 4x500ml cans for £2.24.

You can get Fosters/Carling for that price if you only buy it when it's on offer.

I brought some Wilkos jaffa cakes the other day - expecting them to be poor (I was in a rush) - but to my pleasant surprise they were quite nice, a bit smaller than the McVitis ones but with more of the orange filling.

I'll try the M&S ones...

Mine would be American pizza (more specifically New York style) compared to Italian pizza.

Traditional Italian pizza just uses mozzarella, which is bland, marinara type sauces, which are bland and crusts that are also bland. They are not bad but nothing like a good New York pizza. Tremendously better.

Aldi's raspberry conserve is the nicest tasting jam/conserve I have ever tasted.
That and its home brands of martini, vodka and malibu are the only things I shop for in there.
